HELL YEAH

VIGILO CONFIDO
Snowballs FF chapter 43 . 5/11
Every time Salem speaks during the start of a new section, I keep getting a G-Man vibe for some reason.

"Rise and shine, Ms. Rose. Rise and... shine."
Snowballs FF chapter 37 . 5/6
Given that I finished the story... now I finally understand why the Archon has faith. He's been around long enough to see it all, or what was necessary.
Snowballs FF chapter 35 . 5/6
One problem: is Mikhail a he or a she? The chapter here confuses me between the two.

Wow.

That's all I have to say. Wow.

This was a needle in the hay of questionable fanfic stories. I'm glad this story came into my life, cause this was a joy. Too bad I have to wait until next year for the series to continue. The operations were my favorite part of this story (which is something the Tales From The Avenger currently doesn't work on sadly), but I still get the feels when you execute the characters' development. RWBY, JNPR, CFVY, ARBN, got more character growth than even the animation series itself, which speaks a lot in both good and bad (but that's not the point).

I will hold this in my heart, and wait patiently until next time.

PS: I've notice that this story is looking a lot like XCOM 2 with the GRIMLIN drones. Hmm... given the trend with your stories pulling material chronologically from the video game: where are you going to go next with the 3rd part: Chimera Squad or War of the Chosen?
Snowballs FF chapter 12 . 5/3
bruh, that last part of this chapter was ironic as fuck

a group of teens are setting up devices to watch for shit
a specialist is watching a group teens setting up shit so they can watch for shit
neo is watching a specialist watching a group of teens setting up devices to watch for shit

holy fuck, it's like overwatching an overwatch on a field of overwatches

Bruh.
BRUHHHH

WHY ARE YOU THROWING ALL THESE STORY CHANGING DETAILS IN
HOLY CRAP I WASN'T EXPECTING ANY OF THIS

fucking hell I've binge read both your xcom crossovers and have been extremely invested, but holy crap things just keep getting deeper and deeper. Like god damn.

And poor Ruby just can't have anything personal can she, I'm still upset about what happened to her possessions.

Didn't think this was the end of another part. Enjoyed the story.

Bruh as if the bad guys needed more allies wtf. XD
it's just another primate chapter 1 . 3/24
I liked the tension and realize that it has a part to play but... they couldnt send in a robot? Or stick their heads through? Or a camera? XD i liked this chapter. It was fun and light.
DinoGuy2000 chapter 48 . 3/5
Ahhhh! This was awesome, just like the first one! I never expected this to be so good! I'm kinda glad I didn't start reading this until it was already finished, but reading all of this at once was very draining. Can't say that dealing with cliffhangers like the ones you had would have been better.

An excellent mix of things going wrong and things going well kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story! I even hated Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury just as much as I do in the show! Mercury even moreso.

However this ends, I expect the winner to be doing so by the skin of their teeth.

Awesome fic! Great work!

Is the next part out yet also not going to lie love the two stories you made me cry that's hard to do.
McDouggal chapter 48 . 2/24
... Did you just drop a reference to one of the best video game commercials of all time with the "Omaha" bit? Well played.

This was easily the most emotionally charged chapter since Zhang's death. Teared up several times. It was a good ending for the story, though.

Excited for the sequel.
Quintain Apprentince of Alduin chapter 48 . 2/23
You know, after digesting the last two chapters for a little bit, I just realized that the Grimm Parasite is remarkably similar to the Goa'uld parasite.

Was that intentional or mere coincidence?
Adser chapter 48 . 2/21
Ok, now with part 2 finished, I can give a general review of it.

In general, it keeps all the good parts from XCOM: RWBY Within, keeping an impressive juggle act with all the secondary characters and story lines, giving us a LOT of material to enjoy and think of. XCOM are still the bad-asses that stopped a alien invasion and while you seem to disregard a bit the Remnant side and keep showing XCOM as the more experienced and prepared one (XCOM long war hasn't even lasted a decade, Remnant has been dealing with even higher death levels since before their written history), Remnant big guns still FEEL like big guns and their power difference is clearly showed.

You also write quite engaging action scenes, and that is big praise from me considering how little I care about fights or their descriptions. I usually find fight scenes boring, but you can keep them fresh, adding enough events to keep it dynamic while also adding enough details so we know what is happening.

Now on the bad side, there is the elephant in the room. The whole Remnant is future Earth and the consequences of the aliens last screw you in that timeline.

Ill be blunt, it is bad. You shoved RWBY canon into a XCOM hole, no matter if it fits or not, and it shows. Mixing a "science" story like XCOM with a blatant magic one like RWBY is not impossible, but the way you made it has just way too many holes.

Ozpin and Salem immortality coming from a research of the Elders that they would have no reason to do? (they already work like Ozpin resurrection, they are trying to get a body that will last, there is no reason for them to find a way to give other being their own version of longevity).

The whole (and really, really strange) girl from another dimension? I am going to assume that it is a reference to another story or event from the discord server, and that there is a better explanation of all that event that "a wizard did it, but since we don't have wizards we pulled one for a moment so she could be the push needed to change the timeline"

The aliens just had Grimm? There in some corner of their storehouse their were keeping beings that work completely different to ALL of their technology or units, and they only let them free once they had lost completely?

How advanced psionics are used as explanation for the magic of Remnant, even if they blatantly work different? The rework of the silver eyes into a completely different effect would also be associated to this point, but the fact that you changed its effect to fit its new origin actually makes it the best part of this combination.

And from this issues, and some minor ones too, we are getting... something?
That is the most confusing part, as right now there is no payday in sight from this revelations. The way the story is written and the plot points given, it honestly doesn't matter that Remnant is future earth. The only ones who it affects (Salem and Ozpin) are still almost the same, and for all the other characters, what is the difference? After millennia the words are just too different for this information to be relevant to them. And it shows, if you removed Ruby and Ozpin conversation from part 2, there would be no impact in XCOM: Remnant Unknown. It doesn't actually answer any of the issues that the team is having now, it is just background information.

That could change on part 3 of course, so the final verdict would be once that is finished. At least, its weak point is also its saving point, you can completely ignore it and there is no decrease in the enjoyment of the rest of this story.

Now don't be mistaken, I am still waiting for part 3 and I am sure that I will enjoy it, but I cant shake the feeling that this event will keep poking me in the back of my mind while I read it, reminding me how little sense it makes, unless you gives us a REALLY good consequence for this information.
