This is so good! Different than anything else I've read from White Collar. Hope you maybe eventually continue this, even tho it's been 3 or so years!

That surely explains Neal's behaviour. I can't even imagine how hard it must be for him. Although it's an AU, the characters still remain canon.
El is so caring. She always brings some kind of stability, especially when it comes to emotional stuff. And the story about her brother was so touching. That explains El's great social skills and understanding. Guess she went through a lot with Adam.
Peter is Peter. He's a great friend and I'm more than sure he'll always be there for Neal, no matter what happens. Love and friendship have great powers. Medicine can help our bodies but it's people around us, who make the healing process so much easier.
As for Neal, I really liked the way you described his emotional state. He's strong. He'll get through it. More importantly, he's not alone. There are people who care about him deeply. I'm sure that even Mozzie with his conspiracy theories will try to help Neal. With such good friends Neal has nothing to be afraid of.
I'm looking forward the next chapter. And make it as long as you like! It's truly an amazing story!
