My one complaint is that the death korp use serial numbers as names during combat. It takes significantly longer to spout a series of didgits than to say a single-sylable nickname. Seconds can determine a combat situations outcome.

techincally the forgeworld books and 2/3 BL books that have deathkorps have them as more then stoic kiling machines. they are extrememly stoic, yes. but they do morn their dead comrades and they do honor heroes (they just do both very differently to other regiments) most of their communication is also through body language (so they also seem less talkative to outsiders), but they are still men (and possibly women) and thus have all the needs and emotions of men (and they don't use combat drugs and stuff to supress immotions, they only do that to horses) hell there is even a cannon in unverse Kreig romance novel that famous in universe (meaning at the very least kriegans both have and can write very good romances)
their issues is their casual disregard for their own life (combined with a cult that is hinted at teaching they escourt souls to the emperor when they die) and their extreme-stoic-ness, their inherent distrust of unfiltered air and their extreme disire for victory (which is the only thing which overcomes their hate of wasting resources) makes other regiments uncomfortable

this is a long winded way of saying giveing a kriegan a full personallity isn't jjust ok lore wise its the most accuraate way to depict them.

There is one thing I dont get is in the beginning and in many other stories in which a death korps of krieg guardsmen gets transported to another world all someone has to do is mention the year of the planet and he just shuts down. Last time I checked there are different timeline for different planets so why should he care for the timeline from some locals who have no concept of the greater galaxy beyond their mudball of a world. There is a good representation in Beacons warmaster except with a cadian guardswomen who fights the teachers every step of the way almost killing them on several different accounts and when she is about to be captured she trys to kill herself by slicing her jugular and I believe that even for a cadian I believe a kriegsmen should be more fanatical, and that is my little rant.

I liked the way the story started and up til that half breed showed up. I don't regret skipping the last 35 chapters or so because frankly a lot of the stuff that happened passed me off. Now that I see what you've written here about chapter 69 I feel fully vindicated. Props to you for finishing but the only ending I can accept is the one where Krieg kills the half breed.

Things I liked: most of the stuff with the orks. It hit a decent spot, I think. The flashbacks Krieg had were also decent.
Things that I thought had potential but dislike how you used: the necron lord.
Things that made me hate reading the story at times: the mind control scarabs, every time Krieg did something heretical, the half breed.

Overall grade: C-
Better than a lot of stories and bonus points for completing it but I doubt I will ever read it again.
