this is breaking my heart so much but to be honest, it makes more sense than what the show made. which, is understand because in the end, gravity falls was originally made for kids (and teens and adults) so it had to have a happy ending. it hurts a lot but...I really do wish this was the actual ending.

I also like the idea of stan actually slowly remembering rather than all of a sudden. so this story with stan slowly remembering will probably end up being my favorite headcanon.

Oh this is so perfect. This is now my head canon. I must show this to my oldest child, who was also very disappointed that the Donna Noble ending didn't stick.

You know, this could actually be canon. Now that I think about it, Stan did get his memory back surprisingly quickly...

I really liked this! This is such a sad but fitting end to the series. As much as I needed a happy ending when I was watching it, it didn't really feel earned. What kind of ultimate sacrifice is undone in like an hour? And they never know. Stan is still selfless even if he can't quite believe it of himself. And I guess if the memories ever do come back he'll already be set. No one'll ever call him on his lack of memories, I think, because he is trying to come back form amnesia and it's a wonder he knows anything at all. Love how use of conman skills to fake it.
