As for Ron, he get paid to be Harry friend make no sence. But not own brother go Ron took a stone arm to the head for Harry. Goes into the forest with spider for Harry. Told sirus on a broken leg to kill him to get to Harry and no one goes he going to get killed for Harry

Ps the potters are not a old noble house, outside of the boy who live there really not that important
