JimChou chapter 1 . 9/15/2018 I just came upon your short fic about this sensitive subject. I must say that I feel conflicted with your take on it, even if it's overall fitting and it's good to see Tony telling his part. In Israel, at the end of the episode, Ziva asked Gibbs to choose between her and Tony; well Gibbs chose Tony and this is for me a huge sign that Gibbs isn't as blindsided with Ziva as we could think and that he truly cares for Tony. Pity that he never got to tell Tony about this decision. I agree that Gibbs often didn't support his SFA like he should in front of the team. That's his biggest flaw to me. In the beginning, we could see that he sometimes denied Tony his status to get him back on track and do better; and it worked because Tony is smart and sensitive to each little gesture; so when Gibbs later acknowledged that Tony had improved all was good again (like when Gibbs mentioned Tony last after his coworkers when introducing them to a witness (as if Tony were the probie) but later got the order right with Tony first after he did good and stopped fooling around). But Gibbs rarely stopped the disrespect (except once when McGee complained about being called Probie). I never got the feeling that Gibbs disliked Tony, even in later seasons. Tony probably didn't go to Gibbs' after work like before but you must think that Gibbs always expected Tony to show up in his house whenever he wanted; no invitation needed. Once Gibbs told Tony who showed up with some tool he had borrowed 'After all this time you need an excuse to come here?' meaning he never closed his door to him and he is always welcome. You could always see how Gibbs trusted Tony totally and implicitely on the job and Tony could imagine what Gibbs thought about a case better than the rest of the team. I think that all the events (loosing Kate, the hunt for Ari, the explosion and the trauma of reliving the deaths of Shannon and Kelly and having everyone knowing about it, Jenny's death, Ziva and all the issues with her, being shot by a kid whom he thought he had built a relation with) took their toll on Gibbs. He hardened himself even more and shut out people he liked, especially Tony in an attempt to keep them safe. I always saw his conversation with Tony (when he asked him to decide what he wanted) as a misguided attempt to have him leave the team for a better job with less danger. Gibbs felt guilty for the many deaths around him and he didn't want Tony to be the next one. So instead of talking to him, he tried to push him out. That's why Gibbs was so angry each time Tony tried to keep him safe, saying 'I don't need DiNozzo babysitting me'. He didn't want to see Tony die protecting him. And he wanted Tony to be happier (he told him once in his basement 'Don't be like me'). Well this was a long review... I hope you don't mind... This doesn't mean I don't like your writing. Some of your stories are excellent and some are more to my liking than others but that's life and it's only fiction... I just took the opportunity to express some general thoughts about the series which can be read in so many ways. Myself I like both Gibbs and Tony and I will always try to see the best in them. Sometimes it's difficult because so many writers have meddled in this on the show over the years and the sense of continuity got lost. |
siobhan.22 chapter 1 . 7/30/2018 Great story |
typroctor-ewaguy chapter 1 . 5/30/2018 I had no idea that Tony felt that way about Ziva, but I do think Tali was his child. |

Guest chapter 1 . 4/18/2017 WOW...this is phenomenal. Wish it was longer. Thx. |
Guest chapter 1 . 4/17/2017 Great one-shot...glad Tony told off Gibbs. [I wrote to CBS to ask why Gibbs was such a bastard to Tony in Ssn 13, but they never answered. Big surprise there ! ] Thx for all your stories. |
Cassandra30 chapter 1 . 4/18/2017 Most excellent! I agree! |
SharonE68 chapter 1 . 4/4/2017 JL you have a true gift...thanks for sharing. |
bjq chapter 1 . 10/4/2016 LOVED IT JUST THE WAY IT WAS |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/21/2016 Does anyone else think that Tibbs disappeared after MH found out that MW was leaving? I've been watching Ssn 13 epis on summer vaca, & it's awful how Gibbs treats TD, the writers never tell us why. (Is Gibbs mad that Tony shot Daniel ? Gibbs was a real bastard in ssn13.) |
Ghostwriter chapter 1 . 6/18/2016 I like it. Well done. |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/10/2016 And Tony didn't do his share of bed hopping? His character was a nosy arrogant jerk until Ziva came in. She intrigued him from the beginning. He had met his match. Too bad the writers on that show never knew how to write strong women. Sometimes I can only guess about the real reason you did not like Ziva. |
lolst37 chapter 1 . 6/8/2016 The show's writers really dropped the ball on that last episode of Season 13. Besides confirmation of Tali's parentage, where was the explanation as to why Gibbs so thoroughly rejected Tony this past season? Why didn't Tony ask for a transfer to a position that didn't involve fieldwork? After all, he had been with NCIS for 13 years! Why leave an organization he had so successfully worked in? Wouldn't a responsible father want to remain steadily employed? The writers had ALL YEAR to tie together loose ends and come up with a reasonable storyline that addressed the changing dynamic of the team and Tony. I thought this was a pretty lame excuse for a season finale. |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/8/2016 I liked this... Gibbs, the old fart needed to hear the truth on his "do called" daughter |
Yanagi-wa chapter 1 . 6/9/2016 As the series went on, I saw several places where Tony should have left. According to canon the CIA, FBI, Homeland and the ATF want Tony. This story pointed out several of my favorites. You did good work. |
