Wonderfully written story, loved every word!

That was some wild and intense ride. Thank you, I enjoyed reading it. :)

I'm late to the party as usual but in my defence this was the first story I ever read, having only just discovered fandom (hard to imagine how I survived before then!). I was far too new to dare to review then. Now I came back because I still remember this story even though I've been devouring the site and read hundreds since then. You are by far my favourite author. Of course there's the h/c thing which you have a talent for distributing equally (and liberally!) without it becoming implausible. After all our boys are tough, so why wouldn't they struggle from their sick bed into battle for the sake of their brothers, hmm? *grin* More than that though, you write so intelligently; totally believable plot with plenty of detail to set the scene; and our boys leap to life in your hands, their voices sounding clear and true. I love stories that give all four their 'screen time'. My focus is always d'Artagnan though and I love that you write him strong, as well as vulnerablejust how I think of him. In this story there is the added challenge of writing from the perspective of a blind man, which you did so convincingly that, at least twice, when the pov switched to someone else, I forgot that others COULD see and was all "how did he know to avoid the bucket" or whatever, because I had mentally closed my eyes too and was totally with d'Artagnan, using ears and fingers to explore around him. Brilliantly written! Ok it's the middle of the night so high time I got some sleep. Just had to write, even long after this was posted, to say thank you for the gift of your stories.

The concept was great, the Spanish capitan was delightfully evil (and got what he deserved which was very, very much appreciated) and the hurt! the comfort! the bortherhood!

So much for d'Art's promise to not remove the bandages and Aramis' vow to make sure of it lol. You couldn't resist keeping us in suspense just a wee bit longer by having d'Art overwhelmed and in tears when he gets his answer could you! It's ok, it served the scene very well ;) "You can see" Athos breathed out- oh happy day! Aww such a joyful scene as d'Art smiles wide and laughs, his brothers joining in!

I was so excited as I read the next few words and quickly realized you had brought us back to the prologue. Kind of sad too as I knew we were nearing the end of the story. Everything in the prologue was the same except this time "the Gascon" replaced "he" in the last line, confirming that it was d'Art, just as I believed! Very cool to come full circle and then be given the immediate continuation of that scene. Athos cupped his cheek, I told you I love when that happens :) Oooh Athos said "please come back to me" marking a parallel to when they found d'Art after killing Peguero. Then it was "please come back to us" and the shift in "us" to "me" made me real happy being the Athos and d'Art fan I am *squee* All three of them laying a warm hand on d'Art and squeezing making the connection to that earlier scene even more clear. I especially liked Aramis cupping (yay) the nape of his neck, his curls tickling d'Art's face *sigh* I also really liked you describing d'Art's breaths sawing in and out of his chest, making him lightheaded. D'Art sacred his brothers aw I love their concern and that it compelled d'Art to give his brothers that soul baring speech. Great final line to end things with :)

So sorry this review took so long to get sent. In the last few days a lot of family members have been arriving for an extended visit, plus it was my dad's birthday, so with my entire days spent working then going straight to hanging with the fam I haven't had the time until now. Most other readers write a few sentences for their review but that's not my style as you know ;) It takes me quite a while to write a what I feel is a proper review in reponse to each of your chapters. This being the last one it was extra important to wait until I could do it right. Thank you for so many consecutive nights of reading another of your GREAT stories! Overwhelmed would be quite the understatement, and I liked Porthos' pep-talk to Aramis.

not only did you address d'Artagnan's blindness, but you kept in mind his wounded shoulder which showed comfort with that injury too. i like that you brought it back to the war and also that you kept it about the boys.
