Reviews for Golden Days
scardinakinga chapter 15 . 4/22
This is absolutely amazing! You keep the greatest level of writing right from the beginning till the end of your every story.
I think it's time for you to publish something. I'll buy everything written by you. I am a dreamer and you always take my breath away.
I hope you're well and you keep writing?!
scardinakinga chapter 8 . 4/21
I love when you make me cry.
I love when you make me smile.
I love when you make me laugh.
I love when you make me imagine.
I love when you make me wonder.
I love when you make me shiver.
I love when you make me yearn.
I love when you make me... feel.
EnoughToTemptMe chapter 2 . 1/29
"Good. Because I will probably still scream if you make me touch a fish." Oh Anne, never have I felt more like kindred spirits than now.
Guest chapter 18 . 11/9/2019
that was adorable, Gilbert just loves teasing her! Love seeing the twins born.
Guest chapter 15 . 11/9/2019
I love this, seeing them realise what kindred spirits they truly are, watching them become closer.
Guest chapter 14 . 11/9/2019
This one really got to me. Being motherless is always hard, but especially when you are sick you just want your mum :(
rebeccathehistorian chapter 18 . 6/7/2019
When Charlie started talking, I put my head in my hand, grinned, and thought, "This old argument again?"

I grinned at the "As a matter of fact, mother -"

"And when I suggested to you that we might want to think about another bassinet last month, you told me I was insane.": When I read this line, I cackled with laughter.

When Anne and Gil first talked about going rowing on the pond in Avonlea, my first thought was, "Is this where Shirley's going to be conceived?" And then when you said that Anne said it'll have to wait 'till summertime - and I'm presuming next summer, meaning Summer 1897 - I knew for certain that this is where Shirley's going to be conceived.

Oh my gosh, I LOVED this! This was a fantastic story and I kept grinning all the way through! I love how you show their different "I told you so's" over the years. Not just during the Anne of Avonlea-time but also far beyond into that in-between-time between House of Dreams and Anne of Ingleside.

I know you have other projects to attend to but if you ever come back to this and write more vignettes, I will (very) gladly read them and review! I love your stories and these vignettes are among them!
rebeccathehistorian chapter 17 . 6/7/2019
When Gilbert asked Anne if her looks - when he described them to her - were considered pretty (or rather, might I amend, if Anne thought her looks - according to Anne's mind - were considered pretty) and if she would teach her daughter to hate them too, my only thought with that sentence was a grin and a "Di Blythe!"

"Then why would you let yourself believe it of you?": Ok, I've got to be honest here. I understand where Anne is coming from. I run myself down all the time; that's nothing new. But it's nice to hear Gilbert say that Anne - and if I may say so, me, by extension - is pretty.

"Nope, I want you to come with me this time.": That made me smile. That was a nice nod to your previous chapter when Anne and Gil didn't exactly come together to the Sunday School Picnic.

I liked and enjoyed this story! These vignettes are wonderful!
rebeccathehistorian chapter 16 . 6/7/2019
I love that Dora remembered Gilbert getting Davy's ball back. That sounded like something a kid would say.

"Fred had offered very helpful advice about getting to know *little* sisters in order to impress the *older* ones...": I love this line.

I've always wondered if Dora and Minnie May would be friends considering they're two years apart. And the fact that probably by the time Dora comes to Green Gables, Minnie May is already in school by that point. It's nice to know that they are (or well, it seems to be that they're on that road to becoming) friends. And I like that note about the two of them getting ice cream. That was a nice nod to the 1985 Anne of Green Gables Sullivan movie.

"You're seeing things through rose-colored glasses, Di. It's friendship.": I can totally see why Diana thinks there's some romance - however little - going on between Anne and Gilbert. I think Anne is being practical; she's seeing the now, the present. Diana is seeing what it could become, the future.

"The way he's befriending Davy and Dora...": I laughed. Diana's right. That is something Gilbert would do. In a romantic sense. But I like how at this stage, Anne has an excuse for everything. And by the way, if Diana could read Gilbert's mind, she would know that she was right. Considering it ties in with the line that Gil had mentioned earlier of what Fred told him about little sisters and older sisters.

If Gil's very good with children - and I can believe it - I have an idea that he'll be excellent with sick children in his care when he becomes a doctor (or training to be one at the hospital in Kingsport).

"I think you need a pair of rose-colored glasses.": I smiled. I like that line.

My heart broke at the conversation the two of them had by the Green Gables gate. Poor, poor Anne. I have some idea of how she feels having lost my dog of 17 years almost two months ago. And I love your ending here. It's perfect.
Aoggfan chapter 15 . 2/27/2019
This is the sweetest fic of young Anne and Gilbert. I have always wondered what those early days of their friendship would be like and you have given us the most perfect storyline. This is absolutely adorable. I am enjoying this so so much. Thank you!
MoonyPK chapter 18 . 1/29/2019
love them all
you are wonderful
rebecca-in-blue chapter 13 . 10/15/2018
What an intense chapter. I really loved the build in the first part, Gilbert's father's casual mention of the letter, the way he immediately bolts out the door to Anne's house. I was thinking for a second that he was finally going to tell her how he feels, but maybe that just isn't going to happen in this story. His mixed feelings about leaving, and her determination to be happy for him, even though it's obviously hard on her, are so well-done. I hope you show them telling their friends the news - although I think some folks might assume something else if they hear Anne and Gilbert have an announcement to make, lol!
