MY GOD! A NEW CHAPTER! IT'S BEEN SO LONG!

I don't want to argue about what your story is about. Even if they were married, you don't have to write it that way. Just saying, I totally interpret it differently. Neither has a given age. Plus, I'd be really, really creeped out by a "father" figure who watches me from a distance like a stalker calling me beautiful or seems to use me as a borderline emotional crutch. (Yes, I'm aware how weird all that sounds for a love interest. But it doesn't sound parental either.)

Also, the books are great if you can find them, but they're extremely different from the show.

Miserable typing it? It's fun, though. Getting characters into really bad spots is part of the joy of writing. Then, the hard part is figuring out how the heck to get them out of it. Good luck with that.

Interesting about the idea that manacles are passed down. I always saw it as only 8 people could be Riders at any given time. Mainly because a spider has 8 legs. But since the show never explains any of this, it's interesting to theorize.

Poor Umbra. Having to wear a dress and still not getting anywhere but friend-zoned. At least at this point.

It was a little short, probably could've had more development, but it was still a nice read.

Of course Buguese is happier than usual. The possibility of encountering a certain Spider Rider he's in love with is there, after all. I'm disappointed that she was away, though. /sorry, but they're my OTP for life. I'll squee over anything I can get.

Other than that, you -really- lucked out that Umbra didn't chase you down at first. But now a future meeting is unavoidable. Should be fun.

I thought it was possible the object might be a manacle, but yeah, there are too many Spider Riders. So I'm curious as to how this works. In the books, there could be an unlimited amount, but this is clearly set in the anime continuity.

Nice. Finally an encounter with the Spider Riders. But you don't like Lumen? I think meeting him personally would probably be really annoying, but from a watching-the-show standpoint, he's so fun. Oh well. But you've got his fierce brotherly love for Sparkle down well, now that he gives you a fancy room for saving her a year ago. Hopefully, an encounter with Umbra comes from this. I bet she'll recognize you too.

And I was still wondering about what that mysterious object is. Now I think it might tie into those odd prophetic dreams somehow. But, guess I'll have to wait and see.

Also, those ball and cup games are so easy. I feel bad for whoever lost money to that guy.

You say your OC is entirely based on you. So that means you think about torturing people on a regular basis? That's very disturbing, mi amigo...

Well, that was interesting. And seriously gory. Well, I guess that comes with battle. I didn't suspect Aadyn was such a fan of torture, though. Probably should've though, since he's been far from a goody-two-shoes protagonist.

I guess Selethen doesn't seem so bad after reading this chapter. Kind of rough, but reasonable.

Also, the thought of meeting the other Spider Riders sounds interesting. Of course I've been waiting to see them. (I hope Aqune is with the Insectors, though. I like that arrangement better.)

For a special chapter, I'd love to see some backstory on Umbra. But any of those ideas would be interesting.

As for writing an original story, well, that could be neat. This is closer to original story than fanfic anyway. Even though it's set in the Inner World, it's mainly about OCs and not the Spider Riders cast. I've written some original stuff myself, but nothing I ever thought would be worth publishing. And I imagine it would be a lot of work to land a good publishing deal.

Okay, first, authors notes in the middle of a chapter are never a good idea. They should go at the start or the end. They just really interrupt the flow that way. Maybe you could add a footnote or asterisk to indicate the note is referring to a specific scene.

But about the actual chapter, the mercenary idea is kind of cool. But naturally, it's not an easy career to just jump into. Already, this Selethen guy seems like a jerk. And I also bet 10 silver is a ripoff, but oh well.

Also, I saw what you wrote about Sparkle, and to be honest I didn't even notice. I never payed much attention to what her eyes looked like. Oops.

GYAAAGH! Why didn't anyone tell me I messed up on Sparkle's eye color?! Ugh, my memory played tricks on me... (Where did I even get green? They're purple... Those aren't exactly similar colors...) I'd fix this mess of mine, but I don't have the original file, and I doubt I could manage typing the whole thing all over again. Ugh, I am an idiot... Please forgive me, everyone!

I'm fine now. Thanks. Anyway, depending on who you ask, POV switching is a bad thing. I tend to write in third-person omniscient, which gets into everyone's heads. So I do like seeing multiple POV. I just don't tend to see it much in the first-person. But if published books do it, I guess it's fine.

Anyway, that was pretty crazy. I didn't realize it was a dream at first. Aadyn's having prophetic dreams, I guess? Maybe Spirit Oracle wants him alive for some reason. Well, most likely. He had to have been sent to the Inner World for a purpose.

I'm glad one of my guesses was right. And I had to laugh at the beginning. "All monologues will take place in my head". Yeah, really good idea not to think out loud in general.

I hope to see more of Umbra in this story. Whether she comes back for revenge or in a bit more amicable, I don't know. Either would be fun.

No clue what you found last chapter, though. An Oracle Key is all I can come up with, but I think they're all accounted for.
