Regardless of the fact that this fic is dead, I've honestly enjoyed coming back to reread it over and over again. Everyone feels in character, the plot, while following DxD canon, has its own small twists, and just reading Sieg stumbling his way through life in the Moonlit World of DxD is honestly fun.

I don't know anything about Ibaraki Douji

At the most basic level, Ibaraki is an externally motivated person. Her conception of what an oni should be and do comes from her mother’s teachings and from observing Shuten. The overarching goal of her life, bringing order and giving direction to the last of the scattered oni of Japan, was inherited from her mother. And the desire closest to her heart, to see her only friend and sworn sister Shuten Douji happy and unburdened with worry all describes an oni that can only be fulfilled in the company of others.

This ties into a second core attribute of Ibaraki’s psyche, her submissiveness. While Ibaraki was the unquestioned leader of the oni of Mt. Ooe, she insisted that Shuten be considered her equal in all matters despite the latter’s complete lack of interest in ruling. This tendency can also be seen in her almost fawning obedience to Shuten Douji in Chaldea and in lesser Singularities, within which she dutifully follows Shuten info and out of messes, and does whatever is asked of her with little to no complaints. This is even shown in her relationship with her mother, wherein Ibaraki speaks only well of a mother whose harsh discipline and abuse was sufficient to turn a (half) human child into a full oni. Further, instead of full heartedly pursuing a dream of her own devising, she continued to work towards the fruition of her mothers dream. The conflict between her own desire to see Shuten happy and her obedience to her mother was never truly decided, as in reaching for both Ibaraki lost both her dear Shuten and the oni under her care. Ultimately, while Ibaraki has the capacity and skills of a leader, she lacks a certain individualistic decisiveness that would allow her to forge her own path and walk down it.

When interacting with others, Ibaraki tries to maintain either an air of noble authority, or terror-inducing malice. She can go on and on about how she’ll tear you limb from limp and devour the flesh from your bones, or how great and powerful she is and how you’d be welcome as her follower, but the moment you go ‘off script’ she gets flustered and angry with an almost childish petulance, revealing a certain insecurity about her image of herself as a ‘great and terrifying oni’. The fact that she’s easily bribed with sweets doesn’t really help.

Ibaraki doesn’t seem to understand the concept of benevolence or generosity being directed towards her, at least from humans. The idea that someone would give her a gift out of anything other than fear or obedience is completely foreign to her. This has also led to the girl having somewhat thin skin, often interpreting innocent jests or genuine compliments as cruel teasing or dire insults. Shuten is naturally an exception to this. Considering the oni had all of one friend over the course of her life, with all others either being an abusive and extremely emotionally distant mother (Ibaraki has literally never seen her mother smile), emotionally distant subordinates, or the hostile humans she and her oni preyed upon (though, Ibaraki canonically doesn't like eating humans, it's just something she's willing to do if she needs to), this isn’t surprising.

Re reading this fic after seeing how cute sieg is in the apoc event

Hey there I finished reading this fic, I must say this is one of the top Fate fanfic I read(on the same level as "Crafter of Tales", "Themaster4444" and "Paracious" works. Suprisingly the MC is one of the most disliked MC in Fate franchise, it really shows how great your writting is. Too bad you are burnt out. Thanks anyway for your work, i have a nice time reading it.

Your other fics are also quite good and you even managed to finish one of them and making a sequel. I never read Yuki Yuna so i am not really into it unlike this one, but it was quite captivating work, Issei relationship with the girls feel more natural than canon.

There is an ApoxFGO crossover soon, so maybe if you tried to read the story of the event you could be motivated again to continue this story. There are also new Fate lores appearing from FGO, Strange Fake and Requiem that might be interested to use.
