This story is really rather good I hope you continue it at some point.

The only reason I have read for why Vivian isn't a princess is that she might be illegitimate, that was also used to explain Olaf's overprotectiveness, he don't want any rumors about Vivian to spread, the fact her mother wasn't married to him already cause enough social stigma, and Olaf refuses to chance more.

Merlin isn't a knight, so he has no obligations to fight in a duel.

I can see Uther forcing Merlin into taking Arthur's place anyways, but there's no reason Merlin would be fighting if Morgause brought a partner, he could just refuse the duel, and thereby deny Morgause her partner.

Duels are part of the knights code, random servants aren't beholden to them.

It's really quite stupid that you have Merlin being part of a duel, I wouldn't think Uther would even permit it, it's mocking the Knights code to let a mere servant fight a duel.

love it. Merlin and Morgana are a great team. I'm surprised Gwen isn't in on the secret about their magic yet. Arthur's definitely more perceptive. Excellent.

Loving the story so far, was that the Draught of Living Death from Harry Potter? That is what it reminded me of.
