gordhanx chapter 42 . 7/26 Sorry for taking so long to get to this. Completely slipped my mind XD . This is going to be a shorter review this time around, but needless to say, this was really good. After all the build up to the battle, this chapter delivers! Everything is intense, bloody and nerve wrecking, as we get all these different POVs on the battle. There are deaths, near defeats, failures and victories. It's all very chaotic and feels very much like a real war, with Mender & the rest of the healers, doing their best, to keep the deaths to a minimum. And with Chronos now captured, who knows how things will end.… |
Keijo6 chapter 42 . 7/10 I quite liked this chapter as it gave us an interesting perspective on the war. It is of course certain that healers are more than needed on the field of battle and that their work is never done. It was fun to see the contrast between Mender and Orchid and their confidence in their own skills on a moment like this as it once again showed just how good Mender is in the art of healing. Orchid, on the other hand, has a lot to learn but you only learn by trying and doing your best. The struggle was paced really well with Grimace’s attempts to turn the fight to his side’s advantage. It was a good choice to alternate between him and Mender as it was important to show the many sides here. Grimace’s failure was a heavy blow and but Verant’s group has some success. Even then, it remains to be seen whether the battle is over just yet. As for the last scene, I wouldn’t want to be Chronos right now. It’s more than clear that Questor has a lot planned for him after Logos’ escape. It’s pretty clear that Questor knows how valuable the rainbowfaces’ knowledge actually is for his cause so it’s more than likely that he might face a fate worse than death. That being said, it will be interesting to see whether he manages to escape from the villain’s territory in some way. Overall, this installment was a solid one and portrayed the new escalation pretty nicely. Seeker’s allies had some success here but the battle, not even speaking of the war, is far from over. With Chronos under his command, Questor will indeed prove to be a dangerous villain the future. All in all, the stakes keep rising and soon this conflict will have even more active participants. |
Anagnos chapter 42 . 7/10 Finally, the time for battle is upon us. While Mender and her healer friends are preparing to face the carnage from the sidelines to save as many lives as they can, in the meantime the rest of the pack is off to clash with the incoming barrage of bloodthirsty hidden runners in the middle of it all. In these kind of situations, feeling afraid is only natural, but one must not forget their commitment to the cause. Orchid here is a prime example of this; while he is naturally terrified, you can still see that he’s grown considerably since the last time. Youthful enthusiasm certainly is a big obstacle to pass and since some, if not most, of the young biters in the battle pack are feeling overly confident, sooner rather than later it will come back to bite them in the ass for being careless. The way they seem to view this battle as some sort of a game speaks of their youth and overall inexperience and even if Littlefoot and his pack are trying to guide them to victory, it is easier said than done. And this kind of arrogance does indeed cost them quite dearly when they so severely underestimated the hidden runner’s ability to counter their preferred tactic, ending up costing them several fighters on the frontlines. The way the hidden runners utilized the spiketails to work in their favor is quite ingenious. Instead of putting themselves in harm’s way right at the start, they allowed the onlookers to take that blow for them, softening the enemy force before they go in for the killing blow. Any capable battle commander would know that if your enemy is afraid of you, you have the upper hand and this plan has worked to disorganize the opponent, even if for a while. Even in the midst of battle, various characters are expressing their emotions in a rather… profound and amusing way. For the most part, Taunt has taken this task upon himself with Verant and even Orchid in the background. I wonder if this sort of a thing has happened in real battles around the world throughout human history. Orchid’s feelings about the battle are none too surprising if you are at least bit informed of his character. Those who have served as healers during combat engagements know that while the fighting may have ended on the battlefield hours before, the struggle against time is still underway with those that have been injured. In this scenario, the person must make quick, but decisive decisions if they mean to keep as many as they can alive. The risk group are those that are critically wounded, but even then all of them cannot be saved. They cannot afford to waste precious resources on those that are deemed a lost cause and even if that sounds cruel, it is the nature of war. The ending of the chapter certainly raises further questions in regards to what is going to happen in the following chapters, but as of right now, Chronos’ plan to liberate his mate is successful. The hidden runners will not take this recent event lightly and will no doubt attempt to pursue Logos. However, due to the plan the rainbowfaces so cleverly crafted, it is looking unlikely they’ll be able to catch up to her in time, so at least Logos is out of harm’s way. I fear what this act of defiance will cost Chronos, for it surely will not be overlooked. I will say this about the chapter, the battle scenes were paced equally and well, but jumping from perspective to perspective like this was confusing at times. I liked to see each side given time in the spotlight and even if the majority of the attention was on Seeker and his pack, most of us are likely pleased to see them being the good guys in all this. But I’d like to point out one thing: in war there are no good guys. All of them, despite their goals, are just as bad in the grand scheme of things. I will be looking forward to the next chapter to see how things develop from here. |
graystripe chapter 41 . 7/6 Pounce has a fear of belly sliders huh...lol Did a belly slider ever gotten hold on pounce at one point of time and bitten him? I think it will be easy to scare pounce with vines that looks similar to belly slider...hahahahahaha It looks like mender has plenty of allies who wants her alive. |
gordhanx chapter 41 . 6/27 All right, we're getting to see the spying Flyers in action! This is going to be fun :D . I really loved seeing how a mission like their's typically goes, as they unearth the truth of a recent murder, which might threaten the alliance between them & the Valley. It was a quite tense moment too, as Speedy's doing his best to listen, without ending up killed for his troubles. Luckily, she's able to make it out okay with the info, which convinces Pterano and the others, to finally join the war officially. It's great see them become a part of this. Looking forward, to seeing them in action. Back with the kids, they're continuing their little adventures, alongside Sauria and the gang, as they wonder through a cave, which leads to a few quite and fun moments with the group. I don't know what it is about the kids, but even though their scenes are often filler, they're still a lot of fun to read. Maybe it's just, that I love next generation stuff. But regardless, it's some nice little hearted fluff to help balance out the flyers/Nepha plot. And with the Valley, we follow yet another Tinysaurus, as he spies on some domeheads. And unfortunately, he's not as lucky as Speedy. Again, great work on this seen, very tense and slow, before things get BLOODY! Yep, Numo's been betrayed by his own comrades. We have our traitors. Glad we at least, have that figured out. Good job on the graphic details too. Really made it sound, like an absolute massacre. As we move over to the enemy, we briefly focus on one of Wrok's deputies, which was a nice change of pace. Getting to know see more of Wrok's forces outside of his main comrades, helps to make him and his followers a bit more developed. And of course, it was still great seeing Penol again, making the most of her situation, picking on his men and doing his job for them. The latter was definitely fun as she shows her so called superior how it's really down, even if it giving Wrok's men some pointers. Though while satisfying, hearing her inner voice trying to argue against it, did make it just the slightest bit unnerving, as we're hinting at her slowly becoming a bit too comfortable with her situation. She's even trying to help them out, giving them better armor and tips. It's good to see her grow as a commander, and I do genuinely admire her desire, to keep more people alive regardless of which side they are on, but I'm getting slightly concerned about her health. Though, I did really love her talk with the deputy later on. Again, loved seeing a minor character get some spotlight, even if it's to give Penol a way to talk about her past. And speaking of, that was also really great, hearing about her old role and own concerns regarding her actions. Even the Deputy, I don't think he has been named yet, gets some more development, as we learn about his upcoming test and how he was basically sent to die by his brother, out of fear of competition. Damn, that's harsh. And after some more Sharptooth philosophy, always a pleasure, Penol learns just who it is they're attacking. Mender's pack. And just like that, IT'S FLASHBACK TIME! LET'S DO THE TIME WARP AGAIN! So, we skip back to four years in time, where a young Penol first learns about the great Mender, when she comes to heal her pack's injured. Curiosity gets the better of her, and before she knows it, she's entranced by her work. Really loved, reading about how she meet Mender, and saw her abilities first hand. It's just so cute watching her curiosity turn into admiration and wonder. Especially after she stands up for her and treats her lice. I don't remember if the two shared a scene together, but I loved the friendship you're building between the two. It was very sweet. Let's hope Penol can return the favor, in the upcoming battle. Soon after this, Wrok returns with Karifon (or is it Karlfon? They have so similar names, I'm not sure if they're different people or that was a typo), who turns out the be the father of the deputy. Now his upcoming death, just became a lot sadder. But hopefully, his death won't come to pass, as Penol comes up with an interesting plan, that might actually save lives. Unfortunately, she isn't able to stop the deaths, as not only do the rest of Wrok's soldiers want to kill & fight, they're no doubt going to twist her plan, into one that causes more deaths, than it was meant to prevent. Damn, sucks for Penol. And with that, we end with Seeker's side, as they prepare for battle with their own scheme, involving the Spiketails. Oh god, it's a cliffhanger. Man, things are getting intense and I don't know what'll happen next. Whatever it is, I know it'll be bloody, intense and action packed. I'm both dreading and looking forward to it. |
Anagnos chapter 41 . 6/26 Truth be told, at first I was expecting you to release the chapter in its entirety, but 25k chapter is a pretty large portion to say the least, so you’ve likely made the right decision by splitting them into two separate chapters. Many people (including me) don’t have a fondness for cliffhangers in stories, but they do have their uses as well. In this case, it gives the reader a chance to take a breather before everything goes to hell as battles usually do, so that they’re not overloaded with all the events when it is time for the action to begin. What you’ve done is cause the reader to be on the edge of their seat at the end of the chapter. Indeed, the first half of the chapter mainly focused on how things are proceeding in all parts of the world, while giving us a hint of what we can expect to happen later. The schemers in the valley are putting their plans in motion, the fastbiter children are left busy to their own devices while the hidden runners are gearing up for a fight. Later the chapter begins to take a more serious and darker tone, the latter mostly with the unexpected murder of one of the valley’s domeheads. Time will tell how each side of the conflict will react to this development, but as we’ve seen already, the damage is already felt and treachery is lurking right around the corner. We already know about Mender’s prominent reputation as one of the best healers in the Mysterious Beyond, but her brief encounter with Penol in the past was rather surprising. The word of her prowess has spread far and wide, but here we actually see how her career has helped many people and the weight it carries. Most of these people owe something to Mender, and even if she might not be the one to demand repayment for her help, they might feel inspired to help any way they can in the upcoming conflict. While their relationship was only now hinted, Penol would very likely feel responsible should anything befall the healer. Penol’s plan right now seems to be exactly that: do as much good as she possibly can, all the while trying to avoid unnecessary deaths from either side. Whereas others have chosen their side, Penol is still in the middle and her exact loyalties are left ambiguous. While she may sympathize with Wrok and his pack, she obviously doesn’t desire for a bloodshed when she could find another way to resolve the conflict as peacefully as possible. This act speaks a lot about her overall character, and shows that she’s much more complex than initially believed. |
Keijo6 chapter 41 . 6/26 Yeah, it was fair to split a 25k chapter in two parts as it would have been a bit too long. In any case, this first part was rather interesting. Things in the Valley continue moving to an exciting direction and as you said in the AN, a major confrontation is coming. The ending of course implied it’s just about to start but before that, you did a nice job preparing us for what is to come. There were some parts here that are a bit slow imo but more on that later. The first half of this chapter focused on the Valley and things there certainly seem to be in a flux. At the very least we now know who Wrok’s allies in the Valley are which may weaken his hand there considerably. However, that might only be a problem in the future considering that the Valley will hardly be able to take part in the starting battle. Even then, Wrok seems to be intent on creating more and more enemies for himself. As for his pack, it seems like Penol is having some flashbacks from her past. It isn’t a huge surprise that she already knows Mender considering her position in Ignis’ pack. However, her presence seems to complicate Penol’s plans further as she clearly holds a certain levels of affinity to Mender. I just wonder if she’ll try to act as some kind of bridge between her and Wrok, one option that might also be interesting. That duo’s relationship in the future will be one to watch. But for now, Wrok’s plans seem to be moving forward well but obviously things will not be that easy. About the issue I mentioned, the Valley parts seem to be a bit slow for me but I get that you want to make its residents’ actions as understandable as possible. My problems might stem from the fact that it has mostly been just talk until now though Basher and Nyphon’s actions did make things more intense. But even then, the Valley sequences haven’t been as interesting lately as those of the Pack and Wrok and Penol. But overall, it seems like we’re on the verge of a major conflict. It is very likely this won’t be a decisive fight in any way and knowing you, things will only get more convoluted once the dust settles. However, that’s one of the things that makes your stories interesting so I’ll look forward to the reshuffling of the cards for probably all characters. |
bryan mccloud chapter 40 . 4/29 you know, it will be interesting to see "nahoda" meeting chomper parents again...lol. and this time, chomper is there as well...lol. does nahoda knows that chomper is the son of "dein & terri"? |
gordhanx chapter 40 . 3/25 It's been a while, hasn't it? It was nice, to once again open with the kids, giving us a more of a pleasant opener, before things get more dark. Just some more sweet wholesome fun. Not to mention, it was fun seeing Staza, being a mom, always watching them, making sure they don't get into trouble. She really does make for a good mother. She's very protective, but realistic and still very caring. But, enough of the happy kids time. Let's get back into the war. We join a group of flyers, who I don't think we've met until now, but have some rather fun chemistry with each other. If this, is really the first time we're seeing them, you did a good job showing their personalities and relationships with each other. Plus, it helped to act as a means, to reintroduce an old favorite, in the form of Pterano! Man, it's been too long, since we've seen that guy. I'm happy to know, that you haven't forgotten about him. Loved seeing what he's been up to, and how the flyers fit into the overall war, being something akin to spymasters and agents. Great job on their segment. Looking forward to seeing more of them, their hopeful redemption and their upcoming mission. Should be a fun one XD . Back with the Fastbiters, Mender, Orchid and the other healers are tending to the wounded, while being ever snarky about it. Wonderfully good stuff. It's good to see their side of the war. However, things take a very bleak turn soon, when Mender & Verant come across one of the locations, of a Seeker attack. A nest filled with eggs, with their birth parents dead. Parents, who probably weren't even involved. Oh god. Seeker what have you done?! Mender's understandably pissed by this, immediately confronting Seeker, while fighting every urge not to kill him, asking just what the hell he's done. After he takes a while to remember what she's talking about, good work on his inner thoughts during that BTW, he finally calms down and tries to explain himself. Their argument and back & fourth, was really the highlight of this whole chapter, being fantastically done. Even after what Seeker's done, you did a good job, trying to make it feel like a balanced argument. We do still mostly side with Mender on this case, Seeker's reasonings, on top of his bloody past, do show why he had to make the decisions he made. And if nothing else, I like that he doesn't try to justify his actions too much and owns up, to the mistakes he's made. If he hadn't done that, if would've been much more concerning. So it's a good sign, that the horrors of war haven't completely over taken him. Not to mention, it's just tragic to see, how far Seeker's fallen. Sure, there's still some traces of Littlefoot in there, but having to grow up so fast and seen so much bloodshed, has clearly done a number on the little kid we once knew. It's quite bitter. But hopefully, as he mentions, Mender might be able to fill in the humanity, than so many of them have lost. Let's hope so. So it seems, that Mender has another burden to worry about, as she decides, to take care of the surviving eggs. Speaking of which, Orchid & Leap are still guarding them, with Orchid having incredibly limited knowledge, on how to care for them XD . They're soon joined by Cynnil, who almost immediate goes into Super Mom mode, trying her best to keep them safe & healthy. It was kinda touching, seeing her so naturally knowing what to do. Once Mender returns however, it becomes time to talk about, what to do with the eggs, Cynnil wanting the flyers to take them to a safe place, where they'll be looked after, while Mender wants one of them, to take care of them here. So, we've got another argument, where both sides believe to be in the right, this time about the safety of the eggs. And while a lot less important, than the one between Mender & Seeker, you did a good job on this one too, with both females believing their choice to be the right now, and refusing to back down. You did a decent job, coming up for reasons, while each thinks their reason is the better. I do kinda side with Cynnil in this one, but Mender's arguments were also pretty understandable. Plus, hearing that she remembers everyone of her patients, even after she's treated them, was a very unexpected heartwarming moment. Though, I can't help but feel that Mender's a bit stupid, if she though she was just going to stay behind, to look after the kids. Agreeing to share the burden of caring for the eggs, the two depart soon after, just in time for Seeker, to give out a big speech to the troops. It serves as a good motive booster and a means to make amends for his mistakes, though very few notice, just how afraid and tired he really is. Quite the somber note to end on. So overall, great chapter. A good focus on the different relationships, and the toll the war has on everybody. Good stuff. |
Anagnos chapter 40 . 3/21 Conditions among the pack threaten to reach the boiling point in this chapter. In their mind, what they are doing is not only necessary to ensure their place in existence, but to secure a peaceful life for future generations without the chaos raging all around them, encircling them at every opportunity like a famished scavenger desperate for salvation. However, they also acknowledge the inevitable outcome that they may not survive this struggle without losing themselves to the darkness, and ultimately lose the sight of what makes them special and unique. This determination not to fall prey to the lunacy that plagued them before this present conflict exhibit that while their actions may have changed, deep down, they are still the same dinosaurs they once were. While others are occupied with life and death, we have a brief chance to see how things are progressing elsewhere. The anticipated banter between Staza and the children in regards to their short-lived liberty with the leaf-eater children progressed slowly, albeit in a very fitting manner. Although this jovial company they’ve enjoyed up until now will have to be put on a hold for now, I found it rather interesting to see that despite their obvious divergence in anatomy and behavior, you can easily mistake them as lifelong friends having a laugh. The sharpteeth don’t need to give the valley any more reasons to be peeved at them, so this spectacle is now suspended for the time being. In view of of the recent unfortunate tragedy reminding of its presence upon the pack, the conflicting outlook on life from both Littlefoot and Mender did not do much to ease the tension between the allied forces in this new newfound issue. The former’s stance in this was a moment that truly showed how the brown fastbiter feels about their current position; they are at war, and non-combatants will always perish in the face of of an all-out war. He may still be the Littlefoot we know, but these circumstances are bound to change something in every single one of them, and it may not be for the good. All of them have done unspeakable things to stay alive, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a chance to come back from it. The first step to fix a mistake is to recognize there is one, and this was a department the sharptooth did not fail in. Cynnil and Mender’s exchange turned out to be a real eye-opener. Each side was very adamant to get their point across without being hostile. The safety and future of the unfortunate eggs are paramount to them both, which is something neither is willing to dismiss. One can clearly see how everything is taking its toll on all of them, especially the way it affects Mender in particular. The relationship the two healers share is one that is not only brilliantly written, but one that is a wonderful part of this universe. Whatever differences they might have are not important right now as they face the uncertain future together. Things will only start to get worse from here on out, and the foreshadow that one of them may not survive the forthcoming doom, will have everlasting impact on the other. |
Keijo6 chapter 40 . 3/19 I quite liked the main point of this chapter. Even if Littlefoot we know is long gone, we concretely saw here that Seeker still isn’t close to becoming just another cruel sharptooth leader and the way he tries to make amends for his mistake was pretty interesting to read. The situation is clearly a disgusting one for everyone involved but even then, Littlefoot isn’t going to give up his honor even in this campaign. That tells a lot about his character and once again affirms the distinction between the good and bad leaders in this story. The first part of this installment was a pretty good look on how the children are doing even if it didn’t exactly move the plot forward. I quite like their antics and gives us some reprieve from their parents’ dead serious reality. Those scenes always have their place in this fic even if I’d prefer them having more weight on the story as a whole. As for the main part of this chapter. Littlefoot and Mender’s argument was very well done. As I said, I especially liked the former’s sudden willingness to admit his flaws and try to both explain his situation and also try to make things better in the few ways that still are available to him. Seeing him actually saving the eggs was one look into the old Littlefoot and again showed that in a way he’s the same dinosaur he’s always been. That being said, the next battle is on the horizon. It was a good idea to have this unfortunate incident before the real escalation for the reasons stated above but it also remains to be seen where we’re coming from here. It’s more than likely there will be losses on all sides soon enough and I look forward to seeing how the campaign will develop in the chapters to come. |
gordhanx chapter 39 . 12/29/2019 Here we go! We finally return to Logos & Chronos, taken captive by Questor's men and now being lead, to the belly of the beast. The two of them struggle to stay optimistic, but the situation is very tense, as despite being the smartest ones in the boat, they have no means of escaping and no idea what to do next. Really makes for a terrifying opening. Over with Questor himself, he's getting a report on a recent attack, and takes it surprisingly well. I do really love, that you have Questor care about his soldiers, as more than just minions. He treats them with kindness, is legit sadden to hear that he's lost men and even goes to see the wounded, after a fierce battle. It really helps not just to muddy the conflict, but to make Questor into someone other than a villain. He cares for his pack mates & friends, much like how Seeker does, it's just that he's more fanatical than him. Plus, more calculating and cold, as he lets Wrok deal with Seeker and co first, before making his move. The kids meanwhile, seem to have it pretty easy. The Carnivores decide to waste time spying on everyone else, and the leaf eaters, are doing some rather…dangerous exploring. While not adding much to the overarching story, it still made for a nice levity of atmosphere, after all the bloody, war chapters we've been getting. Plus, it was just fun seeing the kids and their relationships with each other XD. You can see some of their parents in them, as they too are starting to get off, to do their own mischief. I don't have much to say on their parts, but they were still appreciated, and all their different adventures were really cute. Things do get very interesting though, when they come across Tricia and her leaf eater friends. Really loved seeing how these two different species interacted. Despite being enemies and distrusting of each other, they eventually open up and start becoming friends. Them trying to understand each other, and speak despite the language barrier, was probably one of my favorite parts of the chapter. Though, eventually the levity runs dry, as in the Great Valley, a deceased dinosaur is found in the river. Seems like some have grown tried of the Valley's neutral stance, and sent a warning. That is a terrifying thought. You did a good job, with their reactions to this sudden tragedy, and it should be even more interesting, seeing how they respond to it. Who knows, their choice lead to quite a number of possibilities. Most of which are bloody. It also made the scene with the kids, pretty darn unnerving. While there's been a horrific murder not far from them, they're just playing and having fun, not knowing what happened. But again, it made for good levity and it was sweet watching them tell riddles to each other. Plus, it was good to see the kids' perspective of things, while this war was going on. Yes, eventually they'll have to become enemies once the war is over, right now they need good friends and someone to have fun with, when times are at their darkest. Also loved hearing Staza's thoughts on this, and how she, a hardened war veteran knows, that this won't last forever. Adds a bitter feel to it. And finally, we have another bookend, as the Rainbowfaces continue their forced path to Questor's keep, and continue to try and escape. Eventually settling on a desperate idea. Oh man, is Chronos going to die?! Good I hope not. We've all ready had enough dark stuff these past few chapters, we don't need anymore. Though, good job on their final, sobering goodbye. It was quite the bitter note to end on. Hopefully next chapter, won't be as dark as you're building it to be… Regardless, great job. |
Keijo6 chapter 39 . 12/15/2019 This installment was rather interesting to read as it contained several important if subtle plot developments. At the same time, we see new developments in the grand picture while also witnessing the birth of new friendships. It’s always good to see them being balanced in stories like this even if I felt like certain scenes seemed to drag on a bit. The rainbowfaces’ situation is rather threatening and they understand the situation perfectly as well. Their knowledge could provide Questor with great power and help him wipe off his competitors with ease. It was only to be expected that they’d try to escape even if only Logos managed to get away. It remains to be seen what happens to her mate but Questor would be rather foolish to kill him now and ridding himself of his knowledge in the process. Questor himself is simply preparing for the inevitable conflict and gaining new allies and that scene was a good way to show that his threat is growing by the day. About the other major focus, you did a good way of showing the children of the different kinds of getting to know each other, no matter the odds against them. It indeed shows that the ongoing war simply fails to kill their spirits and mood to the same extent as their parents’. Now, it was pleasant to read but I got the feeling those scenes were too long and made this chapter less intense than it could have been. About the development in the Valley, it will certainly offer interesting possibilities for the next chapters. Overall, this was a good chapter even if it offered relatively few shocks. If I were to offer one piece of criticism, it’s the recent lack of major shocks that would result in a major and dramatic plot twist. Of course, the way you build the plotlines is more impressive than shock value but I’d still say the latter is needed a bit more often. But that’s just my opinion and I’m sure you have something great in mind yourself. Nice job as always! |
Anagnos chapter 39 . 12/14/2019 The opening scene with Chronos and Logos being captive by Questor’s hidden runners was a rather sad change of pace from the usually bright and joyful rainbowface duo that we’ve come to know and care for. This situation likely will turn only worse once they reach their destination, although the hidden runner’s plan for the two of them remains rather mysterious and their aims likewise unclear. It really fits their characterization, not to let fear control them, and I was very glad to see that development happen. The next sequence presents a very interesting outlook into Questor and how exactly his pack mentality works. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it definitely was not the aforementioned hidden runner to act so friendly instead of ruling with an iron first as I had initially surmised. Although, this may very well be a facade to hide his true intentions from not only his adversaries, but from allies as well whom might one day oppose him, so it is comprehensible that he would keep his true personality hidden for now. A rather devious tactical move from someone who has been designated as a brute in the past, and this only proves to make his character more interesting in my eyes. But one of the more humorous sequences in the entire chapter was no doubt Gyors and his siblings attempt to spy on the other children, which failed miserably in the end. All of this is simply in a good-will and has absolutely no markings of a conflict and I was very much pleased to see you go for this development between the children and how they behave with one another. Simply but, the whole sequence was a very good comic relief from the perpetual tension in the air. And let’s be honest, Gyors’ inner thoughts on the circumstance was simply too hilarious to ignore. Becoming friends with other species, especially ones you consider your food source, is not exactly easy as we have seen in the past to what that can lead to. However, the exchange between the children is easily one of the most delightful things in the entire chapter. And once the initial distrust and carefulness is over, they quickly become rather taken with one another. Although, try to get the threehorns and the more stubborn fastbiter children to say this out loud. I also liked how it was Sauria who was the first one to approach the other children. Guess bit of Seeker has rubbed on her? However, this is where the chapter begins to take a dark turn once the body of the previously murdered dinosaur is found in the river. This poses some rather interesting developments in the valley’s own situation with staying neutral in the conflict, as this could potentially force the valley to reconsider their earlier decision on the entire matter and potentially join the fight to retaliate. As of now, the perpetrators of this atrocity remain in the dark, but it will likely not end well for them if the valley decides to enact an investigation to figure out what exactly happened. It might force them the act sooner than they would have liked once they’re caught or if they somehow manage to explain it so that it doesn’t reveal them. I really enjoyed the game the children played together, as this is another example of despite the growing conflict around them, they are simply just children caught in the crossfire trying to enjoy life as best as they can. I couldn’t help but feel ecstatic over your ability to make writing interesting and humorous at the same time, which shows exactly how detailed your capability is in these matters. And from the sidelines, we see Staza’s reaction to this development. While it may not be easy to accept food as friends, I feel like she understood the need for friends in this case, no matter what species they may be. And in the final scene, Chronos and Logos make plans to escape from their captors, albeit this includes the factor that the former must stay behind to cover his mate’s escape and warn the valley of this new development with the hidden runners. This scene was a clear testament to what deep affection between partners can cause a person to do for their significant other, and Chronos is more than willing to accept any outcome that awaits him. I will definitely look forward to how this story develops from here. There are so many interesting developments happening all at once that it is kind of hard to keep track of them all. Nevertheless, a splendid chapter! |
