I love the fact that you chose Merlin's magic to show itself in such a loving and non-violent way that was very clearly the Merlin they know, setting the stage for folks to respond positively. Now I have to read the sequel! (I know you wrote this a while ago, but I just found it.)

Sadly, if Merlin wasn't so close to dying, they wouldn't be as forgiving.
