Now that I'm done I can still say this was my favorite of all your stories I've read so far. The emotions were heart-rending and so spot on. I really loved Bryan and how kind and lovely he was. I also really appreciated that Alice genuinely grieved him, and that Uncas understood. My sister's husband died young a few years ago, and being widowed is a unique kind of griefthe marriage did not end because they stopped loving each other, so a new partner must have a special understanding of that, and you captured that situation very well. You are a master with emotions. A couple of things that zapped my brain a bit: 1. Bryan said Mikayla would be the next Picasso. Pablo Picasso was not born until 1881. 2. I truly, deeply loved that Alice was a harpist, because I am a harpist. Howevera full size pedal harp at Fort William Henry? Highly unlikely. You're talking about a 6 plus foot tall instrument with 47 strings weighing at minimum 80lb. No one is hauling that into battle, and in 1757 the fort had only been commissioned and built by Sir William Johnson two years prior. It would have been more believable if you had made it a lap-size folk harp (also known as Celtic harpthis is what I play and they're quite easy to haul. And it would be quite feasible for someone to have brought that, with all the Irish and Scots immigrants who served as militia and camp followers. Just some food for thought.

Oh. My. Stars. I was going to wait till I was done reading this to review the whole story, but I just can't. I have enjoyed all your stories to varying degrees, but this one is by far my absolute favorite. The back and forth with the memories brings this aching emotional quality that is just perfect, and the stark reality of how their lives developed over those 8 years hammers it home. I love Alice's seasonal favorites, and oh, when Ichante explains what Uncas said about his eyes and his name I just cried. Your stories have gotten better over time, and this one is a masterpiece so far.

I've been pacing myself on your stories because I wanted to savor them. This was an intense one... Alice and Uncas coming back together did not always seem inevitable. I like that you made Bryan a sympathetic character, and had the whole family honor him at the end. I love Alice and Uncas, of course, but you know who really intrigued me? Ichante. It was so awesome that he saved Alice. I would really love to find out about his life. Will he somehow end up as Callum Nicholson, Earl of Craven? He's romance hero born and I'd like to see him grow up and have his own challenges and adventures! Torn between the verdant wilds of the colonies and the salons and courts of London, how will he choose? Will he lose his heart to an English rose, or a beautiful Delaware maiden? Oh, I'd love to find out what happens to Mikayla, too. You have written such great OCs I want to read their stories, too. I don't know what higher compliment I can give to a fan fic author! :-)

You totally made my day- not only because you updated, but there is the thrill and promise if another story. So excited. I've actually been contemplating a story of my own- we'll see. Wow! This was not an easy journey to happiness, but what a ride! You always manage to portray Uncas with such gentleness and, dare I say it, tenderness. Although I have to admit that of all your UA stories, this was probably the most difficult read for me. You made me feel Alice's pain vividly when Uncas sent her away. And his coldness towards her when she returned was heart breaking. But you managed to pull them together and unite them for a lovely ending. And I was glad that Bryan was such a good man; he could have so easily been nasty. Like you, Alice and Uncas always touch me deeply, they have from the first moment I saw LOTM in the theater 25 years ago! The fact that they still have that affect on people says so much about the characters and the actors that portrayed them! I cannot get enough of this couple and I am so grateful you continue to write their stories and write them with such skill! Thank you! So happy to hear you have another one in the works! Hope we will see the first chapter soon!

What a beautiful conclusion to an outstanding story! Once again, you reunited our favorite couple with a truly happy ending, and gave them a new son to boot. You have a way of capturing the true personalities of Uncas and Alice. As always, I am going to miss the characters you brought to life in this wonderful tale. But I take comfort in knowing a new adventure will soon make its debut, and I can't wait to see what you have planned for us. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your work, which is always a pleasure to read!
