I remember when my cat, Sophie, had to be put down.

For the first time in her life, she began to show her age. My sisters and I always joked she would outlive us all.

She couldn't go up and down the stairs, she couldn't digest her food, Hell, she could barley walk without a limp.

I knew that cat for most of my life. Whenever I got home from school, I would just sit down on the couch with her, and watch some TV.

As the days passed, I told her every night that I loved her, because I wasn't sure if she would be around the following morning.

When it was her time, I was a mess. I was trying to hold back the tears, but I couldn't. Even now, as I type this, I'm getting a little bit misty eyed.

Now, the house is quiet. No meows for attention, no purrs for when she was comfortable, and no scratching on the door to be let in.

But I'm still able to function, knowing I did the best I could for that cat. She was a true frie-

No, she was a true member of the family.

Your cat Joey, and my cat Sophie, they're in our hearts.

But don't worry my friend.

They'll be waiting at the rainbows.
