Guest chapter 1 . 6/2 i loved it |
MAC Nicholls chapter 17 . 2/12 Rude to your readers not to finish story! |
heypolly chapter 3 . 1/25 This will definitely be a fanfic I reread... brillant so far! |
Bidisha Das chapter 11 . 12/10/2019 The confirmation of Darcy being a take at some point of his life , breaks my heart. He is supposed to be honourable, virtuous, moral and have a strong character. How much ever handsome you have made him to be, it cannot make up for debauchery. I rather like the canon's less charming, awkward, innately good Darcy. |
netherfield2000 chapter 17 . 11/9/2019 I’m sorry you had trouble with comments on this story. I really enjoyed reading it and sad it was not completed. You did a good job. |
Guest chapter 17 . 6/29/2019 To the author of this story: Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us! Most of us appreciate it, even if a few bad apples don't. To the reviewers who have insisted on reading a story they claim not to like, bashing it repeatedly along the way: the rest of us aren't agreeing with you and saying, "Yeah, you tell her" when we read your reviews, you know. We see you as a cross between Lydia Bennet and Caroline Bingley: rude, immature people who are making things worse for everyone. Please, if you're not mature enough to handle this story, don't read M-rated fics. Your issues should not become ours. And even more than that, kindly remember that fanfiction is a GIFT. Authors publish it for free for various reasons of their own; we readers don't own their work, and we don't get to tell them what to write. If you don't like a fic, don't read it, but don't respond to a gift with insults just because you don't like some aspect of it. That is grossly inappropriate. |
Windchimed chapter 17 . 6/29/2019 I loved so much about this chapter, even if it was difficult to see Wickham's mother (and probably Wickham) taking advantage of him like that. I'm sorry to hear that a few very annoying reviewers have driven you from this site. I'll follow you to AO3 without a problem, but ff is the poorer for losing you. Thank you for everything you've shared, here and on AO3! |
gpsyes chapter 17 . 6/26/2019 I've loved every story you've written so far and this one is no exception. As I read the chapters of this story, it feels to me like I've time traveled and gotten a glimpse into lifestyles of Regency era. I recently toured Greece and learning about Greek history made it clear to me that, as far as humanity goes, nothing is new. One has to just look through pages of history and a link between the past and the present can be found. Some people can only see white and black - it takes a depth of perspective gained from life experiences to understand and appreciate the gray areas and it's my belief that humanity lives in the gray. Boundaries of our beliefs are blurry and a person unwilling to change with the shifting boundaries is doomed to self-imprisonment. I'm guilty of not leaving words of appreciation and encouragement because I live a very full life. Fanfiction is my escape and I'm mostly lazy when I'm on this forum. I'll try to be better at Archive of Our Own - yes, I'm following you there and hope to enjoy all that you're writing and will continue to writing. Much wellness to you along with my true appreciation for your art! |
Jansfamily4 chapter 17 . 6/26/2019 OHHHHH! Darcy is going to grow up now! Or at least by Wickham's standards. Things won't be the same for him now. He's no innocent young boy now. Congratulations on your move. FF doesn't seem to mind losing their authors so I am heading on over there too. I don't like reading the vile comments that some "guests" write. |
MrsSP9 chapter 17 . 6/26/2019 I'm sorry that things haven't worked out for you on FF, but I for one will be following this tale on AO3 Keep up the good work, from a fan who does not have the patience or talent to write a story herself, but who appreciates all the effort you put into writing your stories, and I look forward to seeing where the tale leads us. |
MerytonMiss chapter 17 . 6/26/2019 If you want to avoid terribly annoying commenters, you'd do best to post at one of the JAFF specific boards. Don't think I'd ever post more than a one shot here for the reasons you state. As I'm probably following this at A03 too I'm off over there. |
Ms Pimprenelle chapter 17 . 6/26/2019 "the mental abiility to micmic Teflon"? Now that's an interesting phrase! ;-p I won't say I "like" that your Darcy didn't have an holier-than-you, highly-religious mindset, but it's nonetheless a realistic background, and it does explains how he grow up to be who he is. Moreover, it's all in his PAST, so I own I'm surprised at the extent of the reactions you got. Oh, and also - I love it when a comment can lead to a discussion - comments on FFN can be very frustrating that way, because sometimes a commenter is completely off, or has a point, or something in-between, and the audience would have the same interrogation but there's no way to explain your choices without making a long-winded author's note that distracts from the story. With an out-of-the-Fanon-assumptions story such as yours, I think discussions/explanations are useful, and FFn is really not a place which facilitates it. (Also, to Alix33 if she can read it: on can read a story on AO3 wwithout having regitered on the site). |
ThinkAboutItBabe chapter 17 . 6/25/2019 Thank you for sharing your story! I will definitely follow you to AO3 as I admire your integrity in your writing as much as what you write. |
Natush chapter 17 . 6/25/2019 It's a pity we continued loosing many authors due to the constant bulling certain people like to exercise against them. I visit this page since 2014 and I loved so many stories. And I read some very bad but it never ocurred to me to insult its authors. Some are more amateur, some have a natutal talent, some of them are very young and need to exercise their writing. And as a reader, I choose what to read, whom to follow and if I got nothing good to say, I prefer to keep my opinions to myself and stop following the author. It is very simple. Everyone have problems and it is no right when people try to unleash their frustrations online, especially in these type of sites where one is looking to decompress and have fun. I really love your stories and I will follow them in Ao3. Keep going with your excellent work! |
Gedoena chapter 17 . 6/25/2019 Sorry you had a bad experience with comments here. I like ao3 comments because the author can respond to them and a bit of discussion can occur. Thank you for the discussion of how names were used. Some commenters seem adverse to nicknames but it seems likely that family and Friends would use nicknames across eras...? See you on AO3 |
