Reviews for I Know Not, and I Cannot Know--Yet I Live and I Love
Romantic Girl chapter 1 . 7/21
Aww that is too romantic! Love it
Guest chapter 1 . 7/20
Well, this made me ugly cry. What a beautifully written story. I always had a hard time understanding how Harry got past all his resentments to the point of naming his son after Snape, but I'm now considering this story canon because it explains everything so well.
Guest chapter 1 . 7/18
This was so, so painful in all the best ways. I'm so excited for where the AU goes. Your writing style manages to keep Snape sad without going on and on about his self-loathing and misery (at least explicitly), which is something I've found few fic writers can do. Thank you for sharing.
tyskvalkyrja chapter 1 . 7/16
I was about 10 paragraphs into this fix when I became convinced that Luna and Snape are just so good for each other and I want to read many more friendship/mentorship fics with them. I was about 10 mins in when I favorited this. And now I'm a crying wreck.
This was beautiful. How ironic that by the end it was her frustrated that he didn't fight back. I read so many AUs that I really expected him to survive. I thought just the small change of him showing her his emergency potions kit and her adopting it and maybe encouraging the DA to also adopt it would be enough that by some roundabout way Harry would be able to save him, at least enough to keep him stable until the battle was over. Maybe then he could have been tended to. Maybe he'd have taught Luna the healing magic and she could have helped. It's so heartwrenching that he died anyways, though I admire how well you fit it all with canon. Now I need to go read more about these two to mend my heart. Thank you for sharing your work.
Guest chapter 1 . 7/4
Thank you for this great exploration of Snape’s character when faced with someone who treats him with grace—kindness he doesn’t deserve. He returns it in his own way, and as Luna says, it still counts. It’s amazing how she helps him begin to heal during part of the story. Luna’s character—the one who cares despite injury done to her—is well done. I appreciate the time when Snape thinks that there are enough heroes like Harry and villains like Voldemort, but not enough people like Luna. The symbolism of the glasses was also done well. This is perhaps the only fanfiction I’ve read that I would call a piece of literature. Excellent work.

This is absolutely beautiful.

I have no other words to describe this masterful piece of writing.
HexasMancer chapter 1 . 6/18
Wow! What an epic & beautiful story. And I didn't expect (although it makes perfect sense!) the theme of wishing that someone would fight for themself would come full circle from Snape wishing it for Luna to she wishing it for him.

All of the characters are wonderfully drawn and imbued with life. I didn't anticipate the switch to Harry's perspective but it works. Minerva was like she had stepped out of canon, and Luna, this has to be one of the best Lunas in fanfic. Bravo!
lolidragonXX chapter 1 . 6/11
absolutely beautiful... I have no words to describe the beauty of this story
Gigi chapter 1 . 6/3
Oh my heart.
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever written.
When I first realised that Luna would be accompanying him through this story, I was confused and apprehensive, but it all makes perfect sense.
All I can say is “Wow”
I cried, I laughed, I got new perspective on characters.
Thank you.
Thank you so, so much
PistiSpero chapter 1 . 6/5
This is such a beautiful piece of literature.
never have I ever found a sorry which has handled the characters of Snape and Luna so well.
I will be honest when I read the summary, I was incredulous that somebody had managed to write a Snape and Luna friendship and make it work. But boy, did you ever make it work.
This is everything that stories should strive for. Excellent grammar, flow and most of all heart. There is so much depth in each and every sentence. The characters are so heartbreakingly human. Be it Luna or Snape. You have a very fine understanding of what makes these characters tick. I will be honest and keep my manly pride in a corner and say:
Yes I cried while reading this.
The emotions of Snape, a bitter, self loathing, hateful man who finally found a friend and the weird, outcast Luna, who is so much more than people give her credit for.
Just amazing. There are no amounts of words that can sufficiently convey how much I loved this story. Everything was so poignant.

My most like part of the entire story:
"People are not made of sorrow or hate. They are made of magic, beauty and light."
"You mean Snape was made of beauty and light?"
And then Luna goes on to explain that yes, while Snape is a horrible person and an asshole , but he was also just a bitter man who was hurting far too much to let the ghosts of his past go. I love the way that you didn't absolve him of the blame of getting Lily killed. I hate when fics do that.
This is a story that every HP fan should read.
Thank you. I shall always treasure it.
Sunlight simmer chapter 1 . 5/31
