I hate Danzo as the embodiment of Konoha's evil side that the manga tried to peddle. I hated it even worse when the manga made Hiruzen into this naive, gullible Hokage. Pulease. And the anime was no better. :(

These are ninja who survived 3 shinobi world wars: first as soldiers, then as leaders. My head canon says the following about the 6 ninja that were with the 2nd Hokage: Hiruzen became the Hokage, Danzo was leading the special operations, while the other 4 ninja became generals who managed the 4 fronts against the other 4 ninja villages. The fandom needs to give these old ninja the respect they deserve. They've been playing the long game for a while and survived doing so.

I have exams tomorrow and here I am , reading Fanfiction. Worth it though.

I love the way Danzo is potrayed; not evil, not even Grey really. And the interactions really are fun.

I reckon this is literally the first good, as in actually good and not middling Grey Danzo ever. This is one of the most original ideas out there in the Naruto fandom as of now. Because you made Danzo good. There have been Hiruzens that have known about ROOT and sanctioned it/turned a blind eye. There have been many many naive and wilfully oblivious Hiruzens. But I have never read about a Hiruzen that actually proposed and in a way founded ROOT. I think I am rather quite fond of this. I'm on my phone so I don't know if this is a one shot or not, but I do believe it would be brilliant as a multi chapter fix or one shot. Though it reads more like a one shot. And honestly, if it's your interpretation of them, I would also quite like a Hiruzen-Danzo Odd Couple sitcom. This is quite novel. Many praises to you,
