I wholeheartedly agree with you on the weapons.
I know how to fight with some weapons and thus, having had them in my own hands, I know why a solid weapon is better than what you rightfully call a metal origami. Jaune's by far the most intelligent weapon in RWBY. Weiss's weapon is solid but it's extremely short (keep in mind that a rapier is twice the length of the arm, usually reaching past your shoulder in height...). Ren's aren't bad but he can't fight with knives like that. As for Velvet... well, it's kinda hard to break solid holographs...

I've never really given much thought to RWBY pairings except what the canon shows me, but Jaune/Ruby really fits here! The premise of this story really shows that even the little things in their lives make great opportunities for bonding :)

I never get people thay read fanfiction and whine when it's different from canon. The mental gymnastics needed to not understand fanfiction is quite staggering.

Anyway, I liked this one. Agree with you on Rubys weapon - It's the F-35 (but more useful) of Remnant. A classical case of overengineering and spec creep.

Yes, there is no denying that this is fanfiction and you get to play in the sandbox however you want to. I've seen the reviews that went down when this story was in Lonely's profile, and if you ask me, the only problem there was the missing disclaimer. Putting that would have avoided the criticism-flame-whatever because the story /hadn't/ been clear at the start. Could've at least pointed it out in the summary to make it clearer.

It's kind of disappointing how this situation was dealt with - there was no need to chew out whoever pointed out the pointless (in your perspective, anyway; god knows how everyone else sees it as) error. Or to blow up through an additional, non-story chapter that isn't even allowed in anyway and is grounds for reporting, however effective reporting stories is these days. Then again, it's not like I've read the review because it was deleted before I could even read it. That's another thing I'd probably wonder at, because if it was legit criticism, that action speaks a lot about how the author handles one.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, if you wish. It's just my five cents.

But moving on, I'm glad that issue's fixed here, to be honest. It's a cute story in itself, just that it had the misfortune to be noticed by some people who strictly adhere to canon.

Just put a warning at the beginning and case solved. You're not proving anything by eating out the people who disagreed.
