Reviews for The Great Equalizer
yukilady chapter 8 . 3/27/2019
The sadness I felt for Madara, Sakura and Isuzu made it hard for me to breathe. I can't stop myself from crying. It felt like I was there, I was loved, betrayed and forgiven. this story was great on its theme. I'll cry some more before I move on. Thank you for this story.

satsuma-chan chapter 8 . 7/2/2016
I finally got the time to do a proper review.

I felt that you've captured the essence of the characters well. Very well.

It seems like Madara to be a cause and victim of tragedy, and to leave in a poetic way.

I can see the feeling of each of the characters in their actions.. Their choices.. their regrets. And their hope for the future. This ending is indeed poetic.

While Isuzu wonders about what-ifs, should Sakura have lived to see Madara's downfall, there is doubt to whether Madara would have fallen if she had not. Madara only ever followed her when she left, after all, something he didn't do for anyone else who left him prior to this. In a way, Sakura's sincerity when her emotions lead to her suicide was the convincing factor that made Madara choose to go as well. Sincerity was something that he seemed to value and want for throughout the years.

It's sad that Isuzu couldn't be an anchor for his mother to live on. I kind of wish Sakura could have been stronger for herself and for her son, even if it meant that Madara would probably have sought her out once more, with intentions more deranged and mad than ever. Perhaps she knew this too, which only made having an end more appealing and necessary. That too, is a tragedy with beauty and chills in its own way.

Yami no Emi chapter 8 . 6/16/2016
I love to read this fic!
Isuzu does not hate Madara actually understands the relationship they had their parents and that makes me very happy.
It was tragic outcome of Madara and Sakura but the legacy of his love is Izusu and is a comfort.
Thanks for sharing the story, i really enjoyed it.

I was waiting for read this, Madara is gone like Sakura, I'm so sad. Poor Isuzu.
satsuma-chan chapter 7 . 6/9/2016
Thanks for the update!

Ah, so Madara's fall is seen. By being willing to die, his immortality ceases. And he goes on. Sakura's suicide was unexpected. I think that she would have explored more of the world, travelled far.. It doesn't seem like Madara brought her to many places. Or maybe he did and the whole word is too painful for her. I'd imagine it'd be something like that, perhaps.

But back to Madara's death. It's very like him. Still thinking about the clan as he prepares to die. Taunting his opposition even to his last breath. Going down with pride. Very much like him.

Nothing much is said about Itachi's feelings. His torment and his endurance. How he must have suffered while bearing the burden of making others suffer. While he's not the main focus of the story, any chance there'll be an extra chapter for him? :D

And maybe a bit of extra insight into Sakura's last moments too. As she plunges the sword in.

Now to Isuzu... He seems relatively innocent, all things considered. So brave, and so honest. What was his relationship with Sakura like? They didn't see each other as often as they should have, yet he loves her. I can't wait to see the next chapter where hopefully some of this will be addressed! :D

Great work on the story, as usual. And congrats on whatever good things have happened to you these past two weeks!

I've struggled with depression and suicide, and it sickens me how it's used in stories and people don't take it seriously. Thank you so much for putting it out there that it's serious and you should get help) I adore the story, I've enjoyed it since day 1, and this was a perfect chapter!

Thanks for update!
Poor Sakura, she really loves Madara.
satsuma-chan chapter 6 . 5/20/2016
First off, I noticed when I was rereading chapter 3 that the last part was edited. It no longer says "he knew nothing worse than the havoc that was wrought" .. the "he" has been changed to "Madara" and that makes more sense. Initially I thought that Isuzu was the one who underwent some big realisation when he was 21, and was innocent ("knew nothing better") when Sakura was 21. But if this was referring to Madara, it changes things.

Because of all the suffering Sakura had suffered, I think she could have still carried out the plan, had Madara not confessed his feelings for her. She does have a kind heart, to be touched by that. At the same time, I get that she's feeling weak.. Madara's compassion does not make up for everything he'd done does it? The torment she's feeling is raw, and I like how you've shown it here.

A part of this angst is the desire for a "perfect family life" that Sakura has.. Ironically, she was actually bringing out some of it from Madara using her deceit. The impression I get is that this is a large portion of her torment.

"hated that he tricked her, and did not even know it": Yes, I like this line. It clearly brings to attention the fantasy of Madara that Sakura knew was not real but could not help getting ensnared by...

Now that the truth is out, will Madara take out his rage on Kakashi and Isuzu?

But then... Madara's feelings are the key to his downfall aren't they? I was predicting something like extreme emotional conditions.. Love... and pain. Perhaps the heartbreak that Sakura caused will do more damage than he thinks...

I didn't expect Madara to be so sensitive to Sakura after Isuzu's birth. His caring side was brought out. That again points to his crazy personality being born from loss of love. Who knew that Madara would only bring it out with Sakura and not any other woman, though? I guess that he was starved for love as Sakura was, so he only responded this way because Sakura had been making an effort to be the kind of woman he would be attracted to..

Yami no Emi chapter 5 . 5/12/2016
My feels...
I thought that Sakura had been planning something but... I don't know how to say. God. I really love it!
Is this the last Madata's point of view? I want more from him. And Isuzu?
Thanks for update!
satsuma-chan chapter 5 . 5/11/2016
Ah, I was so hoping this wouldn't have been the reason she's holding on. Nevertheless, bring on the angst and roller-coaster ride!

Now, what sort of genjutsu was she using? Madara doesn't seem completely affected by it. I would say that his feelings are genuine. Or was it perhaps something to tweak the circumstances in her favour.. Make her appear more appealing, maybe?

Hmm.. now what will become of Kakashi and Isuzu? Isuzu.. Who probably dislikes Madara. Was Isuzu in on it too? I wonder...

Madara was relieved that he didn't kill Sakura. So that means he's so very angry and yet still in love. I'm surprised he didn't turn her immortal before this. Could it be that he tried and was unsucessful? Then again, someone needs to ask Madara what he expected? She attempted to overthrow him and is that not the least he deserved from her after what he did? He should take this as a sign of now being on even ground with her.. I guess he's too hurt to even talk to her now.

"I want to grow old with you." Would he have given up immortality for her? He was thinking of how she would pass away without him so I guess he might have actually considered going with her to the next world.

At the end he says that she "would have been" a failure. The way to kill him is something that he believes that will not happen unless he wills it himself.

Oh and.. "That was the last he ever saw of her." Really, now? ;)
