Well, even if this was, it's been so nice to read this again. I've already read your work several times over and even though it's not much yet, my heart always breaks for poor Hiccup. I would't wish it on anyone to be locked up in such a facility, but with him being in a completey different time and nobody speaking his language... I just wanna hug him.

Oh. My. God. This is the best fanfic I have read. No joke. Please update! Maybe read through the rest of the comments too? And everyone in the comments, maybe if the author doesn't update someone can ask to adopt the story? I just really need more of this! It is I credible, and I am not sure if anyone else will be able to write it as good as the author did ಥ‿ಥ

OMg, this thing got me hooked.

Yes! Yes! Someone understands him! Now build a time machine and bring the poor man back to his own place in time! He needs his dragon! His Astrid! His mom! His friends! That poor baby has been suffering more than enough already. Take him home! D:
Of course, psychiatric institutions need to be sterile, safe, should help people rehabilitate to either join society again to contribute or provide a home for their more permanent habitents. That said, institutions didn't exist back in Hiccup's day and age. Mental illness wasn't even something they knew of either. So while they believe something is wrong with him mentally and try to diagnose and help him, Hiccup has no idea why he's there or what's happening and that must be an incredibly scary experience for him.
To suddenly be thrown in an entirely different century, to be labeled as a mentally ill person and a danger to both himself and others and be thrown into a high security psychiatric research facility, to be manhandle and sedated and surrounded by all of these intimidating strangers with their gibberish and white coats, people would grow quiet and distant for less.
So I'm glad these two people finally came after months of being stuck in that institution with the apparent intent to help him. And while Blake, as a scholar, did see an opportunity with Hiccup, I'm glad the military guy breaks the stereotype and is the one to remind the scholar that this is still a kid they're dealing with here and not an object.
Though I know it's been a long time since this fic has been updated, I do hope to see an update of this soon. Until then, I will wait patiently to see the conclusion. I know this was never supposed to be a full story, as you have stated in the first chapter, but I am still a little curious as to how this will play out and if this Blake and the military guy are really intent on helping him home.
But weither this story will be continued or if this is really all there is, I will still enjoy it either way.

I can barely even imagine how terrifying that must be like for Hiccup. To be flung off of Toothless and straight into the 21st century without his most trusted companion to protect him, keep him company, and keep him sane. It's a scary time even for us, let alone for a Viking from thousands of years ago.
And what's worse, he gets chased by people wearing strange outfits and gadgets they fortunately didn't have to use on him, is run over by a car as he runs and lands in the hospital, ends up in an asylum, and has no idea where he is or where his friends and family are. Talk about terrifying. I would come undone immediately on the spot!
It must be terrifying to wake up in a hospital and have your first interaction with people be the one in which he's pinned down by multiple people and sedated. Without knowing that all of those devices and medical equipment he's hooked onto is there to help him, it must look like such a scary environment to him.
