Zate560 chapter 12 . 7/12 Really great story. It's a little bit more adult than Rwby but I think you did a good job making it work. The dialogue was also really nice and believable for two actual people to have. I figure this story is done but I got pretty fulfilled by what you wrote. Thank you! |
D2n chapter 12 . 2/17 well, it's a nice way to end here no cliffhanger but why Jaune still not get a heart transplant? or I just miss it why? |
Krionik chapter 12 . 4/22/2018 This is pretty good, I just hope it isn’t dead! :) |
Rorksen chapter 1 . 3/17/2018 Well this is a well written story and I hope you update soon. |
dandyrr0403 chapter 12 . 1/25/2018 I've just finished reading this story after finding it, i gotta say you've done a great job of writing this the story is really good, just 2 chapter in and i've already hooked in this story, the way you set the romance between Ruby and Jaune is reasonable and their worry for the relationship could be justified, all in all this is a really good story and i love it! Keep being awesome! Hope you'll update again soon, i'll be waiting! |
Raj8 chapter 1 . 12/1/2017 I wrote a long review recommending your story to Spacebattles, I thought I'd crosspost it here considering how long I ended up making it. I focused on the negatives so that they knew what they were getting into but I also made sure they know it was well written with well done character interaction. A well done Ruby/Jaune fanfiction which is quite rare, the story is pure character interaction with no greater plot, but the characters do grow over the period of the story which I enjoyed. There are however several negatives though, the biggest of which is I don't feel that there was anything really taken from RWBY that couldn't have easily been taken from some other story or been original. To clarify that statement this story is set several years into the future, with the first chapter being the defeat of Salem and the death of several characters to show that the fight had weight,* so since it's set so far in the future all the characters are changed in some pretty major ways. I personally can imagine scenarios where most of the characters do have the potential to be this way, but you still have to be willing to go that extra mile as the changes are never shown, we are just handed a changed character. Then there is the Ruby/Weiss pairing break up that happens in chapter 1. This is in my opinion is likely to be the most controversial thing the story does and I am still conflicted on how the story choose to handle it. On one hand a large part of me feels like it wasn't a good idea to include in the story, there really isn't a reason to have them already together and breaking up in the first chapter, when you could have easily chosen to not make them a pairing at all. On the other hand though this element is not forgotten in the story and stays with Ruby for the entirety of the story, so from that view point you could argue it was necessary in order to develop Ruby's own thoughts on love and give character development. Then there's the break up itself, the best thing I can say about it is that both characters are shown to be at fault and that it has been a reoccurring element in the context of the story. With that said the reason they broke up is basically incompatible dreams, as both characters want the other to support their dreams. The problem lies more on Ruby's end then Weiss although they share the problem, basically Ruby is repeatedly going on very dangerous missions which take up a lot of time, needless to say Weiss does not approve. On Ruby's side though, Weiss is hardly any better on the time front as she's taken over her father's company and when Ruby is home they barely spend any time together due to Weiss working. So on one hand this is a believable scenario to me if you focus on the darker side of things that I could honestly picture happening, especially since even if they both have feelings for each other they can't stay together as both continually tries to bend the other to their way of things. This is especially good because Ruby and Weiss have both made compromises over the years, it just hasn't proven to be enough in the end. With all that being said, it's still kinda depressing when you think about it and makes me wish they could have found a way. Ruby and Jaune don't end up for quite awhile either which is good,** and then of course there's the argument on if Ruby is doing the correct thing herself. Ruby is repeatedly endangering herself and going on difficult missions, but she only goes on missions where people are in danger, she isn't throwing herself into danger for no reason. Jaune is doing the exact same thing, so you could argue that they are just making each other worse when they inevitable get together. So considering how much I focused on the controversies, I think it might surprise you but the overall story is one focused on hope, moving on and having fun with life. Overall I could see something similar actually happening if RWBY were more realistic which I think is the stories strongest point, in addition it shows that you can find happiness in unexpected places and just because you lost one thing, it doesn't mean you can't gain something else. So if you sat through my massive rant through the stories congratulations, I hope you found it interesting, and that you check out the story for yourselves. TLDR: The story is overall good but it has several controversies to it which I go into detail above, basically the characters are all several years older and Ruby and Weiss were a couple at one point. *I actually found that to be a pretty smart element overall, decreases the cast that you don't plan on playing with much and genuinely makes the rest of the story better due to it giving weight to the characters grief. **I really don't like the summary, I feel it spoils way to much. I could have honestly seen Ruby and Weiss getting back together if it wasn't for it. Especially since Ruby and Jaune are basically each other's best friends for the first half, so the author could have played more with the element of surprise. |
