Ohhhh this was fantastically written. All those little jabs at Castle have always bothered me so I'm glad to see a fic like this. You captured the emotions perfectly.

Totally understand where you’re coming from. And yes, I think the Castle writers failed in balancing the two in terms of their inner strength. We read only Castle.

I have always disliked Lennie and espo because they always have been hostile to castle whether it is his fault or not from the very beginning of the season and in 803 episode how the hell did Lennie dare to say the things,it seems like they are encouraging Kate to do what she is doing and castle will always be ok with it.
PS: I hate Lennie and espo how they treat castle through out the whole show.

this is new. what a great way to look at it from castle's side. i too am shocked and hurt hearing lanie's comments in 816. poor castle is always being blamed. i admire castle being the bigger man and never complaining about it.

Love it. And loved reading ur intro and the comments. I guess Im not alone in how disgusted i am in the portrayal of Castle and how his family and friends have treated him. The writers/showrunners have ruined a great thing

Same guest again, I think the starkest thing out of this whole piece is one fact: Kate thinking she knows what Castle wants better than he does. Not that he doesn't do it too, but the whole situation of this work arose because she thought she knew better how he *really* wanted to celebrate his birthday... *sigh*.

The "What did Castle do now?" attitude was around almost the whole series (to the point of feeling like an 'I Love Lucy' episode at times). But it gets really bad whenever the writers get lazy and think that verbal abuse verbal slap stick humor. It was *really* bad during the whole Pi thing for example. And, honestly, I'm not even phased by the precinct trio doing it, it actually doesn't bother me that they take Kate's side unconditionally. They've known her longer, for one, and even after all this time a 'blue wall' effect makes sense... but when Alexis changed camps so completely after 'Daddy didn't tell me about the engagement, waaaaaah', that just knocked out the one support net Castle had. And I, unfortunately, don't agree with you on Martha. Martha just comes off to me as a 'sisters before misters' woman, even against her own son... her comments during the whole DC job fiasco cemented that view and I've never seen anything to really reverse it.

You also touch on other great points. What the heck happened to Rick's poker buddies? Meeting Bob outside of when the plot needs him? Other friends he should have had from the 'page 6' set? Heck, even former girlfriends or just women who wanted to have a 'fun night' every once in a while you *know* a guy like Rick would stay friends with even after meeting Beckett... I know there's only so much money around to hire people to play transient roles, and the money gets tighter as budgets decrease and the main actors' salaries increase every year... but it's gotten to the point that it's laughable that the show is called 'Castle' not 'Kate'.

Uhh, I don't know exactly how to say that I loved this but let's try. I'm so glad that i finally found someone who writed a fic based on Castle side, because seriously, we really needed this, so congratulations!
I think you put all I have been feeling since the second part of the season premier, 'cause I never thought I would be so mad with a Tv show that I have been in love so much.
Castle is a incredibly person, with a heart I envious, but like you wrote and I quote "Even I (Castle) have a limit!"
The writes didn't think in anything of that, because ok, caskett happy is all we want, but how they made him just run after Kate all over again and just take her back so easily made me feel very sad, of how they are not seeing his side, thought just a few "mad" lines would work.
And I'm angry with Lanie since the beginning of the season, when she said that Castle would be just fine! And Espo, I lost him in Probable Cause, but the important thing, you did this amazing and thank you for sharing this, I really appreciate. And since you said you usually write most like this, I'm gonna after them and forgive my english, not my first language. Keep going, I will mark this one on follow too, 'cause you never know...

Thank you for this story. It bugs me that Rick gets written as a doormat and a buffoon too often. I prefer the smart, badass Rick. I wrote a story that let Rick vent the anger I felt he should have had after his missing time. I don't think Javi has ever changed his belief that Rick staged the wedding disappearance, not even after Sleeper.

Yeah, Lanie's comment made me so mad I absolutely have to agree.
I won't repeat what's been said in other reviews, because many other true things have been said there, so I'm just gonna say:
Good job and it's a shame that the showrunners have turned Castle into such a pushover.
