Promising start. The writing is mechanically good, putting you above 80% of FFN right there. You've got a good character arc clearly laid out: seek approval of parent. Classic. I hope you don't do much with Luck, though. By definition it's either deus- or diabolus ex machina, both of which are death on good writing.

As it's the first chapter I can't decide if I'll find your story good or bad, but there is potential for sure. As for the Gamer system I'm sure you can play with it to add what you thought should've been part of this ability. I like the idea of the story though and I hope you'll update soon (though I'm not critizise you when I'm a slow writter myself) to see what you'll do to this story. Just out of curiousity: will you make pairings? (I understand if it is an annoying questions but since interaction with others can change a character, this is important. Oh, and if you answer you don't need to tell with who if yes, keep the surprise)
Another advice: Don't be scared to had more details and slow down the pace. A story that is too rushed will make it hard to understand or appear too forced.

I would have ate the food just for the poison resistance skill! Passive skills are the best kinds of skills for a Gamer and Poisons could be used by the villains to take him down, or maybe knock him out with sleeping gas. The Poison Resistance should even stop drunkness in its track so it is an extremely valuable skill.

You should try to branch out from the original Gamer skills and maybe even stats. Find the stats that appeal to you, how they effect the Gamer and how the stats seen on NPCs effects themç My version of Gamer power doesn't scan others and if it does then it is more along the lines of reading ones movements because the Gamer's Body makes both upper and bottom muscles equal unlike normal where you have to train each individual muscle to make them stronger.

One could kick like a mule while punching like a 5 year old kid or have a problem with their legs but use a exoskeleton to move faster which wouldn't be seen through their stats as it is an item giving them the speed boost.

In my opinion there are 4 types of skills: Active(attack skills that requires one to either yell their names or will them with their all), Passive(Resistance skills and knowledge skills that gives an instinctual nudge towards the correct answers, the nudge grows stronger as their level grows), Auto(Sensing and manipulation skills like telekinesis) and Effect(item skills, like a holy sword that allows the user to manipulate holy energy or cast a spell).

Well, you asked for a comment, so I'll give my honest opinion.

The chapter suffers from a somewhat hurried pacing, and lacking detail. Neither are things basic practice and time won't fix, but are present. Don't worry, almost every writer has them at first, including myself.

The system you used for his Gamer power was pretty obviously the most commonly used, from the series The Gamer. Nothing wrong with that, but I do hope you take some Liberty with the system, instead of just following Cannon. If you meant for differences to appear, I advise you try to show them soon.

The chapter also mirrored The Gamer quite a bit, though understandably. Still, that does make the story very predictable, so I'd advise splitting into a different direction as soon as it is reasonable.

Overall, not at all bad for an early work, but could also use some revising. Nothing too bad, but certainly not yet a masterpiece. Of course,that's to be expected.

Nevertheless, if you continue to persevere, and write, then I'm sure you could make this, and your future works, great stories.

Interesting I guess, there is a flood of juane as the gamer stories coming out now. Do you have any plans to differentiate this story from ones like TGWP (read that at spacebattles if you haven't already, its a monster)? Also have you read Gamer Arc by smilingjester? he had some good ideas that could help you decide what you want to do with the story.
I like that you started him young, I feel plenty of stories completely OP the gamer ability and don't really built the characters or abilities very much while nerfing everyone else.
Any way this isn't too helpful a review more just to let you know that I will be following your story.
