Obviously it was so he could Bond Gabby, but there had to be another way to do that. Harry and Fleur being each other's date for the ball would have left it with both of them needing a different hostage. Then Gabby for her Ron for him would make more sense. It's a bit... contrived, but the Bond is there now, so I guess it's all good lol

While 'Morning is a simplification of Goodmorning, which is widely used in english, Bonne Matinée, the literal translation, is almost never used. Bonjour/Bonne journée is the most common version, but neither of them are contracted most of the time...
