ZYC10 chapter 1 . 4/24 Great story. I love how you write and the plot is awesome. |
corv chapter 1 . 12/13/2019 THIS. This is an excellent critique of the story that all the while keeps everyone in character to a t. It feels like justice for Ran's character and is a rightful look into their relationship. This is criminally underrated and quite refreshing. |

Kabnondra chapter 1 . 9/29/2019 I've loved reading through all of your stuff! It's super great! |
xThomas2 chapter 1 . 1/5/2019 Meanwhile, in the background, a man makes a phone call to his superiors.. Just kidding! But doing it out in the open, kinda dangerous, or maybe that's just paranoia. What are the chances? Still, this doesn't feel complete. |
Emori Loul chapter 1 . 8/26/2018 Yeah, their relationship just isn't health. Not just from Shinichi's end, either - Ran's got major abandonment issues; normal people don't cling like that. The first 200 or so chapters take place in a span of about a month, and with how many times Ran cries, it's just... weird. If my boyfriend told me he had to leave for a while with no warning, I'd think he was a jerk, and I might cry, but not within the first week or so - and they weren't even technically romantic then. They would have never worked, really. In the redone Episode One, she gets violently angry when he steps out for a murder case in the middle of her tournament; I get that this is a Big Deal tournament, but... a healthy relationship is based off mutual support. She wants to be the priority in his eyes, not the cases - and she deserves that, but honestly, Shinichi's probably not going to be able to give that to her. If she's going to get hurt from all of the cases that unavoidably follow him everywhere, they're relationship's doomed from the start. While Ran certainly tolerates the cases, she seems to want stability and constant companionship more; Shinichi wants challenge and the fulfillment of justice. Each are good goals that each of them deserve, but while they're not incompatible desires, the way they choose to attain them often are. The fact that neither of them can move on from each other I find... weird. Shinichi seems to know Ran so well, but sometimes it seems like Shinichi is a substitute fixation for an issue that Ran needs to work through. Probably stems from her parents' divorce, to be honest. You'd think after months of living as siblings, their relationship would change and they'd move on. Sometimes it's like they see each other more as goals than as people, at this point, and that's never going to be healthy. In all honestly, I just don't think Aoyama knows how to write a healthy childhood friend romance. Or women. The most interesting, healthy couple is Sato and Takagi; every other one has a relatively developed male character paired with a girl who turns into a mostly interchangable cardboard cutout of a person after they've been paired with their love interest. The best female characters are ones who are plot relevant first and romantic leads second; Ran's interesting when she's doing something to affect the plot (which was admittedly much more common in the earlier chapters) but becomes a cutout when she's acting as the stereotype love interest or damsel because love interest. Because of that, a lot of both her and Shinichi's decisions don't make sense with the plot. |
general zargon chapter 1 . 1/22/2018 *Is wearing a neckbrace for the whiplash and sobbing into a tissue* Whhhhhhy? Why did you do this to my feels?! You hear that screaming? That's my feels as you murder them. *Blows nose* Not that it wasn't all completely true, but now I really want to know how Heiji's phone-call with Shinichi went (I'm guessing loudly, for a start). Ran: terrifying detective. This was exceptionally well-written, and the characters' dialogue, personalities, and thoughts seemed very in-character to me, especially Heiji's apology. Despite the battering that you gave my heart, I still greatly enjoyed reading this story. I wish you the very best of luck on your writing! |
SakuraS41 chapter 1 . 10/4/2017 This is really good. All the evidences piling up and the way Ran was interrogating Heiji really made me realise that Shinichi's lies can really affect her mental and emotional health. I appreciate all the details you put in about Ran's perspective towards this issue. Thanks for the great fic! |
Maya Chain 23 chapter 1 . 9/13/2017 THIS IS SO GOOD! I mean it helps realize how messed up Kudo's schemes got but reminds us as well that in most cases he didn't have much choice in who learnt about his identity MANY TIMES. Also Ran's pistol of truth was super loaded with devastating ammunition it was amazing! It's great that Heiji agrees to talk things out with Shinichi because OH YES he would have taken her proofs as a challenge. |
RoonRune chapter 1 . 6/19/2017 I wonder if this is going to end up happening in the anime. It's plausible and SO needs to happen. Thanks for writing! |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/5/2017 'o' |
Guest chapter 1 . 5/23/2017 This is so underrated i wish there were more writers like you |
Guest chapter 1 . 4/5/2017 Oh my ... This is amazing , you deserve much more reviews and favourites . |
A Green Crayon chapter 1 . 10/24/2016 When put like this, this makes me want there to be a real Shinichi Kudou so I can punch him in the face. (and also a real Heiji Hattori so I can squish his guts out. I love that guy.) I feel like Heiji is the only one in the series that knows Shinichi is Conan, that's actually on Ran's side. There's been two times when Heiji has told Shinichi to tell Ran. And then Ai Haibara just comes out of fucking nowhere and says, NO, DON'T TELL HER. SHE'LL BE IN DANGER. SHE'LL DIE. SHE'LL FUCK EVERYTHING UP. And I just don't fucking get that. Everybody loves Ai. And I'm sitting there watching Detective Conan and asking, why? I mean no offense to anyone who likes the character. I know people love Ai to bits. That love did not extend to me, I'm afraid. It probably never will. But yeah, I always couldn't stand watching the Detective Conan bits about Ran 'almost' finding out, but Shinichi thwarting her every attempt with a carefully crafted lie, and I ranted to my buddy, who was watching the show with me, about how much I couldn't fucking stand that aspect of the show for HOURS. Like, it's stupid. There is no logical reasoning for not telling Ran. If Shinichi was so fucking worried about somebody getting hurt because of him, then he shouldn't have fucking told anyone. Does Agasa not fall under the category of 'people I shouldn't tell because I don't want them to get spontaneously shot'? No? I guess not. OR HIS PARENTS, FOR THAT MATTER. Ran is in danger whether he tells her or not. He got in her danger the moment he stepped foot in Ran's dad's detective agency and started living with them. If the Black Organization figures out that Conan is Shinichi, regardless of whether or not Ran knows, GUESS WHAT? RAN'S IN DANGER. But apparently, Ran knowing will send out a subliminal signal to the black organization, and they'll be like, 'hmm... my spidey senses are tingling. Shinichi must be Conan Edogawa.' And if he's not going to tell her because he thinks Ran can't keep his secret, and that's the fucking excuse he's going to use for not telling her, well then they have some major fucking trust issues to sort out that are so fucking bad they probably shouldn't even be together in the first place. lol Ahem, anyway. Sorry about my rant. O_o I don't normally do this, but this story triggered my inner rage in the best way possible. I loved it. |
