DobbyRocksSocks chapter 1 . 3/30/2016
I like this. It's different, and I have a huge amount of respect for anyone that can take the characters we know nothing about and give them character, if that makes sense. I struggle so badly when writing such minor characters.

The plot was engaging, and it really drew the reader in. The ending was brilliantly written. Good job :)
NeonDomino chapter 1 . 3/30/2016
I loved this one too. I love Cedrella for some reason, not sure why, but apart from Sirius and Regulus, she's in my top favourite Blacks.

I like this story because it's about her sister betraying her - she fell in love with the wrong person, even though he was still a pureblood - and Charis disowned her, without even considering the feelings of her elder sister - only the family name, as I imagine her father taught her.

I feel sorry for the mother too, because she seems scared of their father's reaction more than anything. She doesn't want to disown her children, and was even shocked when Arcturus hit her. She clearly loved her daughters, even if she was a hard mother on them.

The ending was cute, how the Weasleys took her in without problem.

I really enjoyed reading this, I love reading about the Blacks, because anything could be canon when it comes to this family! :D
jiangcheng chapter 1 . 3/29/2016
Hello!
Oh, this was interesting! I do find reading about the less common Blacks fun! We know close to nothing about their personality and I liked how different you made each one. I always thought about how the Weasley's were related to the Blacks, but I never gave it much emphasis. I really liked your take on it. I think they acted in character for a family who focused on blood purity so much. The father's action sort of shocked me, but I would expect no less. Well done!
DolbyDigital chapter 1 . 3/29/2016
I really liked that we got to see their relationship from the perspective from the Black family and from the Weasley family, and how different their views were. However, whilst I did enjoy the small section at the end, I don’t think it was entirely necessary to the plot.

Again, I did notice quite a few mistakes with dialogue tags and punctuation. And [undiscussed fright] should probably be [undisguised], [nine faced] should be [faces], [Septimus explained] should probably be [exclaimed], and [sobded intensified] should be [sobs]. Also, [in the doorway of the Weasley families front door] should be rephrased (and it should be [family’s], anyway) to avoid the repetition.

Overall, though, I did enjoy this. As I said before, I loved the contrast between the two families, and I thought the relationships between the siblings was interesting.
Debs1990 chapter 1 . 3/25/2016
Wow, this was a really powerful and emotional story. It shocked me when Charis reacted the way she did (I thought it would be Callidora) and she will have to live with the knowledge that she betrayed her sister. Her dad was as vile as I expected, and I sympathised with how torn the mother was. I loved the relationship between Cedrella and Callidora, and I was pleased she gave her blessing and wanted to stand by her. I loved the contrast between the Black family and the Weasley family, and how Mr Weasley is firm but kind when he talks to Cedrella. Great job.
The Ghostly Minion chapter 1 . 3/24/2016
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Simply the saga of Andromeda and Ted, set back a generation. Yes the secondary sources have Arthur's father married to Cedrella Black so this makes sense. The main difference is her sisters aren't crazy DeathEaters.

Not sure we needed the duplicate of the Burrow, but that's neither here nor there for this story. For the HP reality, the issues are timeless.

The Crownless Queen chapter 1 . 3/23/2016
The Blacks are so fucked up it's not even funny :p (is it wrong that I love them so much for it?)
This was a very interesting piece. I've always been interested in finding out more about those characters, and it's always a delight to find people writing stories like this one about them, because somehow they all feel real (I guess it's because we know so little about their lives).
I really enjoyed your versions of the Blacks sisters in this, and the Weasleys' reactions when Cedrella showed up (the 'worshiped' bit) was pretty awesome :p And the Blacks' reaction at her for falling in love for a Weasley seemed pretty on point with what we know of them too.
Nice work ;)
1755 chapter 1 . 3/19/2016
Always wondered about the Black that married a Weasley. Interesting take on it, could be expanded upon in a prequel or sequel - How did they get together? How did they meet? What happened after? I like that you showed sharp differences between the two families, the dynamics are intriguing. The Blacks are just so interesting to me! I would have thought they'd have put more emphasis on the pureblood aspect of the Weasley, but I guess they were *that* prejudiced.
Fire The Canon chapter 1 . 3/12/2016
Ah, I love reading about the less common Blacks! They're so interesting, because some have backstories but no personality. So then people can give them one.

I found it interesting that you made Septimus' family similar to the Weasley family we know and love, but thi time it was the father being the really welcoming one. Perhaps it's a Weasley thing to do to have seven children ;) Imagine if all of Molly and Arthur's kids had popped out seven each haha.

Anyway, a few grammar issues, which I think have been pointed out to you before, but over all, a lovely read. Well done :)
Love the Brightest Star chapter 1 . 3/11/2016
A rare context. The Blacks have held my interest a lot, what with the way they insisted on pruning their family over generations to maintain their blood purity, and how, from time to time, someone or the other broke through that barrier of pride and discipline. But honestly, I hadn't really given much thought to these three Black sisters, except being surprised that a Black married a Weasley. So, you did an awesome job of bringing this topic to light. Just a typo aside (in the first line, Black was written as 'black'), your story was quite perfect.
3cheersforidiots chapter 1 . 3/8/2016
This was a very interesting read. (And it teared me up a bit, because it was sad from a certain aspect. But that just may be me being overly emotional). First of all, I would just like to mention that while it wasn't perfect and I could spot a few comma errors and such, I think this was definitely one of your better works in terms of SPaG. Honestly. It was good to read it.
Otherwise, i really liked how you characterized everyone, because these characters don't really have personalities to themselves according to canon, and it's not an easy task to build up characters from almost nothing, and still somehow keep the diversity of characters intact. I think you managed to do that beautifully, because Cedrella had her own character, the sister who just wanted her sisters to understand, Callidora, who may not agree with her decision, but still respects her enough to stay on her side, and Charis, who was so exited, but then she turned her back on Cedrella (just like the youngest does most of the time. I guess they usually know less about the world, and they keep themselves to family traditions most of the time. Idk, that's just a thing I've noticed about pureblood families), but also the Weasleys, who were welcoming, even though they knew where Cedrella came from.
Otherwise, this really was sad. I mean, of course, we couldn't expect anything else from the Black family, but still, when we're talking about a father slapping his daughter without a second thought, it gives me an infuriating but also desperate feeling. I think this is what most of the characters felt as well, and you portrayed this really well.
So, all in all, I really enjoyed this. This was a nice "slice of life" kind of one-shot, it was surprisingly well-written, and overall, it was just good to read it. Good job.

SchroedingersKneazle chapter 1 . 3/3/2016
This was an interesting story based on what little we know about these characters. I like how you created an individual character for each of the three sisters.

I especially liked Callidora. While she is shocked about Cedrella’s choice of her husband, her sister means more to her than the expectations of pure-blood society. I like to think that her marriage into the Longbottom family allowed her to reunite with Cedrella.

Charis appears a bit foolish next to her older sisters. I like that you still made her a conflicted character. She feels she’s doing the wrong thing, but still goes through with it.

[she wasn’t a huge fan] This expression sounds a bit weird when referring to family. Maybe something like “she didn’t get along well with their mother” would sound more fitting.

I like how Cedrella, despite not caring about her parents’ opinions, is still scared of them. This way, you avoid making her appear superhuman. Arcturus is a horrible father, and thus fits perfectly into the Black family. Usually absent, he only becomes involved when his daughter threatens his reputation.

Finishing this fic with Cedrella arriving at the Weasley’s home was well done. You depicted the huge difference between the Weasleys and the Blacks really well. How the Weasleys just accept her as part of the family was a nice end to the story.

Great job!
