Reviews for A Change in Destiny
FotoDi chapter 18 . 5/29
I am surprised that Harry was so well balanced about Matthew. You’d think he would have a few moments of worry that he’d be displaced by the new baby because now neither Lia nor Sirius would consider Harry as their First Responsibility/Priority.

Please do some research into how social workers actually operate.

We’re licensed professionals, first of all, and we behave professionally (by, for example, NOT telling parents they’re awful and should burn in hell, regardless of how evil they actually are.). We investigate before removing a child, and must (bar unusual circumstances) attempt to reunite families before requesting to terminate custody. We take confidentiality seriously, and don’t share info about a child with just anyone. And we DO NOT make promises to kids unless it’s for what where we’re taking them for lunch. You never ever tell a child they’ll be away from their parents or that they’ll get the happy ending they want, because you can’t guarantee that! Mistakes get made, judges screw up, legal technicalities cause problems; the system is far from perfect and you don’t promise something you aren’t positive you can deliver.

Please, if you decide to feature a profession in a fic, do a little research or ask one of those professionals questions first.

In my personal opinion the canon portrays Dumbledore as evil.

If a parent sends their gay child to conversion camp where the child will be abused and tortured no matter how much this is done supposedly out of love or to "save their soul" it's still an evil act. Most of the actions that Dumbledore takes in canon are evil. He even acknowledges in canon that he knew he was condemning Harry to a "dark time" by leaving him with the Dursley's and justifies it to Harry and himself with questionable wards.

Quite simply a person is decided by their actions. None of Dumbledore's actions indicate he started to disagree with Grindelwald. He clearly started to disagree with the man's methods but he continues preaching "The Greater Good" even when he knows the connotations of said phrase.

Now I will grant that Rowling wanted him to be the Good Guy but between plot holes and following the trope of "incompetent adults" that too often plagues books for children Dumbledore's actions are either grossly incompetent or evil.

A principal at any other school would be fired after the first year.

Lots of fun - thanks!
mumphie chapter 3 . 6/15/2019
Wondering how they can get the payments stopped without Dumbles knowing. Quite a tricky situation!

Thank you for this nice story, pleasant to read. I loved Lia and how you made met and linked the different families and friends. Apart from a few words, it was different from the book so I liked the history as well as the friendships and the home unity. Likewise I liked that Harry had adults of confidence for what concerning the stone and Quirell.
Guest chapter 18 . 5/29/2019
I enjoyed reading this story. I love that I didn't have to squint past strange sex scenes or Harry with a harem or whatnot. I mean, I don't mind a tasteful sex scene if it's necessary to the plot, but otherwise? Yeah, I'd rather not. Thank you for writing something that's not overfilled with gratuitous smut.
Guest chapter 13 . 5/29/2019
One thing I do notice is how in canon none of the professors ever really did anything about assholes calling people "mudblood" all the time. They just didn't care.
Guest chapter 10 . 5/29/2019
Wait, how is Hedwig going to hang out with Harry if he's in the dungeons of the castle with no window access? HE NEEDS HIS HEDWIG TIME! *sad face*
Guest chapter 1 . 5/2/2019
Lia is a first year muggle-born sorted into Gryffindor at the height of Voldemort's power. At the least she would have had an unpleasant year, which would have likely made her return to her loving grandparents in the normal world.
She could have been older, had a good relationship with Lily and thus looked for Harry; after which the story would have followed.

Excellent story! I wish there were more feel-good friendship fics like this.
chyaraskiss chapter 16 . 8/19/2018
I must have missed something. Towards the end, Dean says that Sirius and Lia found out about his father. So what was it? I think you forgot to put that into the story, unless you have it later on.
