Eh, oh well. The story is dope, but so is the superhero universe. And since that one is dealing with alien threats and therefore is unlikely to go past Salem (though when she decides to wade in and throw down a "Yo momma" burn on Ruby is anyone's guess), I reckon I'll be able to enjoy this story again sometime next year. And that's fine by me, I started to enjoy this story sometime last year, waiting is fine for me. Good luck with wherever you decide to take whichever stories you plan to make/continue/revisit in the future!

Time to reread this story again.

I've seen fan art of Neon as a firebender. Yang shoulda gone strait to the the dragon during the breakout instead of waiting for everyone to get to the boats. What was the connection between the dragon and the crystal?
I hope that dragon wish thing is real.

Well, I guess we're taking a break, before diving into back into Ruby's big fight. All to get the Boiling Isle, a few chapters early. Awesome. Should be great, seeing Yang escape.

And, despite the downer like opening, it was still really satisfying, seeing Yang still having some of her spirit and rebellious side to her, refusing the captain's orders and actually managing to silence him. If nothing else, that was satisfying. And we get, quite a surprise here, as it seems that the prison, is guarded by a good damn dragon! Now that, was one hell of an awesome twist. And Yang's sense of wonderment, was a great echo, to our own reactions. Once that's over with however, it's straight to her cell. Her cold, dingy and isolated cell. Things don't get much better, as she's forced to deal with two new enemies. Neon & Flynt. Oh, interesting choice, having them be here, and serve as Yang's antagonists. She's a bitter fit for them, given that the FN has done more shitty things than the WT, and you did a great job, stirring up the same animosity, they had during their fight. Speaking of which, it eventually comes to that, with Yang being beaten quite one-sidedly. And damn, it certainly does a number on her. Especially, when she attempts to fire bend, only for her flame to die out. Thankfully, she does get one good thing from all of this, and that's being reunited with UNCLE QROW! Oh man, it been too long, since we've seen him! So happy, to finally see him again.

After moving somewhere more private, the two finally catch up, Qrow revealing how he ended up in the prison, and then finding out about Yang's new…limb. Though reluctantly. It was so great, seeing the two of them again. Qrow is his usual tough love/genuine love mix, which is just what Yang needs right now. He's supportive, if a bit harsh. And this also served as a nice way, to learn about the prison, how it remains unescapable with it's sea of Grimm and guard dragon. Speaking of dragons, loved hearing about their roles in this world. Serving as guardians and protectors against the Grimm, but still being near extinction. Wanting to see the Dragon up close and personal, manages to get her uncle, to show her the cave. And it's here, where we get the first scene with Yang & the dragon, later named Celica. And I must say, were excellently done. Obviously, it tries to kill her at first, but eventually it opens but to Yang, after learning they've both been abused and modified against their will. It was a brilliant way, to give them something to relate to, and it was sweet, seeing the two slowly warm up (no pun intended) to each other. Yang comforting Celica after her mission, and then naming her, being a great display of their fast friendship.

Time goes by, as the relationship between Yang & Celica continues to grow, her rivalry with FN worsens and things just get more mundane by the day. Until finally, she can't take anymore, and goes to plan an escape. Not for her. But Celica! And to do that, she needs help. Including from Neon & Flynt. Thankfully, despite their continuous remarks, she's able to ignore it all and not take advantage of a situation, where she could beat them, instead managing to talk to them and get them, on her side. It was a really great way, to put a hold on their rivalry, showing more of Yang's negotiating skills. She's going to make, an awesome Fire Lord! Upon finally finding Qrow, the four of them manage to come up with a plan, if an incredibly faulty one, and they get to work. Props to Qrow, for going along with it, despite knowing that it might not turn out so well.

And so it begins, as Qrow leads the charge, overpowering the guards and securing the ships. The action was a bit brief, but still well done, with Yang trying to encourage Celica, being a good timer, keeping up the suspense. Speaking of which, Yang goes to try and free Celica, only for the dragon to turn on her, believing that she's been used. Aww man, it hurts so much, because she's kinda right. And Yang's reaction, when she realizes what she's doing, only adds salt to the wound. Things only get worse, when the Warden arrives, (speaking of which, I'm surprised, that you had the Warden be an original character, instead of someone like Watts or Tyrian) planing to send the dragon after the escapes, resulting in a fight between the two. And while Yang manages to have the advantage at first, with her superior fighting skills, things quickly turn uneven, when he draws out the fire bending. Things turn dire, as Yang's near death, while the prisoners become sitting ducks, doing their best to hold off the Grimm, hoping that Yang will arrive soon.

All seems lost, as Yang's once again at her lowest. Her back against the wall, blood dipping from her face, Celica about to be tortured and her mother mocking her, in visions. And yet, despite all that, Yang finds the will and drive to carry on, ignoring her mother to save her friends, and landing a full power fire bend for the first time, in a LONG time. After all this time, she's finally over it. And man, was it satisfying to see. After all the pain she's been through, it was so great, to seeing see her rise to the occasion, putting it all behind it. Well, worth the wait. And with this newfound strength, she's able to free Celica not only of her bonds, but of her main, allowing her to move on as well. Brilliant parallel. And so, the two fly out, finally having overcome their pain. They make short work of the Grimm, in a truly awesome segment, before departing, dropping Yang off with the rest of the ship. And with that, everyone escapes! Neon & Flynt even apologize. Awww, what an uplifting way to end. Especially considering, how these Yang chapters usual go XD . Celica's even tagging along. Aww, that's nice. Should be hilarious, to see Ruby & co.'s reactions, when Yang shows up on her. And with that, it's off to Vacuo to kick some Fire Nation ass! And hopefully, reunite with Ruby.

This was a beautiful chapter. Not only was the Yang/Dragon stuff incredible, but it was great seeing her finally over come her trauma and feelings of inferiority, and return as the Yang we all know and love. Hopefully, it won't be long, before she's reunited with her family, and kicks her mother's ass!

Have you considered having Yang cut/burn off the Grimm arm? It would be a nice way to symbolically cut ties with her mother and/or just not do what Raven wants for her, besides its not like she needs two full arms to firebend, bending is about movement, and she still has an two legs and one and a half arms
