I loved this, it’s so much better than the actual ending. I was pretty disappointed that they made Ame just flat out leave his family behind without even saying goodbye in the movie. I honestly wish this had happened in the movie.

This is like fourth time reading this and I still think this should have been the ending! I agree I didn’t like the ending of the movie it was so bitter sweet having Hana be left alone

I can say with a degree of certainty, that this ending made me feel a lot better. It still ripped my guts out, but less so since there's a degree of fuller understanding than there was in the movie. I think everyone wants to change that feeling of Ame leaving things too cold and sad; how could Hana and Yuki be happy with that? This was quite good.

Oh my god... That was just... I don't even know how to describe it other than BEAUTIFUL! This is SUCH a better ending than the movie! The best thing was, everything that Yuki said was exactly what I thought, so that entire time I was screaming 'YOU GO GIRL!' at the screen. I mean, the original actually made me cry- yeah, CRY. AND I'M RENOWNED FOR HAVING A HEART OF ICE. Like, what the hell Mamoru Hosoda?! Anyways, can I just pretend this is what happened? That Ame never left his mother behind without a trace or a 'sure Mom, I'll drop in from time to time'? Yeah. Imma do that. By the way, here's a tray full of delicious, gooey, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip cookies (virtual, sadly) for making me feel a little better after bawling my eyes out, and just being plain awesome :3
