Oh this was exquisite. I'd start quoting but I'd end up C&Ping the whole thing and reducing myself to line by line sobbing over beautiful prose and the tenderness and how totally damaged they still are even as they work this thing out in a none-too-constructive way. Kate using him to cope even though she knows she can't give him what they need yet; Castle broken by his love for her to the point of accepting whatever she'll give him even if it's not satisfying.
