Ms.Key chapter 61 . 7/16
Imagine being in America...as a Black woman, who was so inspired by the injustices & brutality , she made the decision to become a police officer not only because she was inspired by the injustices towards her people brought on by hundreds of years of racism, oppression & sexism but also felt compelled to address the injustices brought on by members of her own community. She subjects herself to the racism, sexism, racial & sexual harassment, in order to tear down the system from within...in order to bring justice to victims...She repeatedly expose herself to a level of trauma that is often not seen in war, only to be judge by, condemned and held accountable by the actions of officers 1,000s of miles away- the very same officers she lothes and who are apart of the culture she is trying to tear down. Imagine her escape are books or supporting others creative writing in short stories or fan faction... only to find that same judgment here. As though one can't grasp the concept of understanding that one can be pro police & anti police brutality, they arent mutually exclusive. Cops hate fu*ked up cops more than the citizens, because at the end of the day. They are left to deal with their fu*k ups. Perhaps you'd be willing to look at police from a realistic perspective rather than what is social media/media fed. Or from the perspective of a Black officer...or a good white officer who has to confront or work w/ a bigoted cop. You can inspire different, offer a different perspective or you can go with the grain. Either way. Thank you for your beautifully written stories, its been a wonderful journey these past few years. Best wishes!

Fantastic chapter as always! I did get slightly confused as at the beginning Vivian says its been 2 years since she killed Keith, but later on it says its been a year since then which is what I thought. Also, you made me real worried when Vivian met up with Skye that her relationship with Jamie might be ending soon, which I really really hope doesn't happen as I love her. It's crazy to me that Gail is thinking about retirement, her not being a cop just doesn't see right
jaceylfe chapter 62 . 7/14
your story always brightens my day and I live for the updates. I have reread this series countless time and will start again soon because everytime I read the story over, I feel more connected to charcters
barbtulley chapter 62 . 7/14
Your updates always brighten my day! Thank you. Gail and Viv both being so introspective, Holly jinxing her day.
wkgreen chapter 62 . 7/14
That can be hard situation, depends on how much Skye does things that could be seen as flirting.

That was a interesting case. Was happy to see Holly back in the field again. :)

Looking forward to reading more! :)
Cass Purser chapter 61 . 6/21
I’m remarkably biased, being a paramedic who works closely with Toronto area police, and being from a place of white privilege. But for what it’s worth:

While the topic of racism hasn’t come up, your fix does a remarkable job of demonstrating the human flaws that exist in police services. Bill and other officers were homophobic. Sam cheated on Andy. Elaine regularly used her power to pull strings. Gail verges on alcoholism and Chris has a coke problem. Etc.

The police services (particularly in the US) unmistakably has issues with racism. Unfortunately cops are human beings who have been given too much power with too little oversight.

Your story shows not only the good that exists within the police service, but it also paints the picture of the way it SHOULD be. Normal people trying to be their best despite personal struggles, and with people to hold them accountable.

You have put far too much passion and effort into this project to throw it away now. It’s a work of fiction, but also a good hope for the future. Just because you have touched on a multitude of police flaws other than racism, that doesn’t make your story invalid, wrong, or racist.

Your Gail or Viv serve as individuals first responders can aspire to. Canon Gail did for me, and your Gail and Viv continue to do so.

Thank you Chappy for the update. And also thanks for your words, things are horrible in the world atm, also with covid. Having your stories help a lot to get away for a little bit and imagine a better world, with good ppl. Thanks!
Guest chapter 61 . 6/12
I love this fic and think it’s one of the very best one out there and would be very sad if you didn’t finish it. I realize it’s pro cop but Gail and the good ones have rooted out the bad ones, which should be the point. Most cops are basically good they just fail to stand up to the system to get rid of the bad and I think this universe helps show both sides. Thx

Thanks.
zutAra101 chapter 61 . 6/11
Like always, I love any new chapter that you take the time to write and upload. Thanks for this, really needed it.
On another matter, as a black person - though not living in the states but in Jamaica. This fic has given me hope for a better, near future. In fact I restarted the whole series, reading every word of the fics until this chapter after the death of Mr. Floyd.
As you seem to have made your decision on pausing your cop based stories, I will accept like any good fan would.
I just wanted to let you know though, from one black person hoping for better; this helps me to continue hoping. Thank you for giving me a universe where the police aren't complete arses...and for helping me smile along the way too. )

Kiki chapter 61 . 6/11
Thanks for the new update! Skye turning up again sure was a twist. Kind of love jealous Jamie...lol

As for your note: I understand that writing and reading a police story at the moment might be very difficult for some people. The atrocious things that have been happening by unchecked cops in the US for decades are unbelievable. And I guess that every country in the world needs to have a closer look at their police policys.
But...I also think that we should not refrain from having stories out there about how we want the cops to be. Maybe some young girl or boy reads one of these stories about what a cop should be and aspires to be like that, the more good cops that are out there, the more they can make a change. At least that's what I still keep hoping. Stories especially stories like yours, where you write about the fact that there are bad cops out there, but also that they need to be stopped, and need to be stopped by the good cops are very important, I think. We should also emphasize that you are not a good cop, if you are a bystander and watch bad cops do their thing, but don't speak up. If you do nothing, you're a bad cop yourself. But in your story, and most of the stories that I read here on FF whether it is Rookie Blue, Rizzoli & Isles, Criminal Minds or others, they address these problems. I think we need more of these "good stories" about "good cops" who make a stand against the bad cops and criminals alike. Show the world out there what kind of cops we want them to be, how we want them to behave, one on one and at work in their community.
Sorry this is so long...now I'll go patiently back to my corner and wait for the next installment of your story next month...

denyana chapter 61 . 6/10
I think this story is great and should be continued and finished. Stories inspire people, take them to places and worlds they would like to be and meet characters they admire. This is not an article about the real world, for that we read the news. We know this is an imaginary world and we like it.
wkgreen chapter 61 . 6/9
Writing positive stories about cops is difficult right now. I like to think that most cops try to be good people and not racists, but it hard to keep that view at times.

I am glad that Vivian avoided that hug from Skye and hopefully it keeps her out of the doghouse.

Looking forward to reading more :)
Littledream85 chapter 61 . 6/9
Hello, I love your stories and do not want to be political but I believe that you should not feel guilty for promoting the police.
Your work shows that police is not perfect and has some black sheeps but also honest cops who want nothing more than help the population.
If anything it is an example of what good policing should be. So please keep on posting it and hopefully it will inspire cops to be better.
All the best for you during these troubled times and thanks for your work.
