Reviews for Beyond The Waves
FraryFreakObessed chapter 1 . 6/26/2016
I love this story. It's so mysterious. You literally have to read in between the lines to understand the meaning. You can't figure it out with just the words. I honestly want to know what she's going to say to Aaron and Clyde.

Sequel?
snuggleUP chapter 1 . 2/8/2016
Wow, this is freaking awesome! This kind of writing style glues you to the text, I read it through in once. I hope we get more of that! I need more of that :) bravo!
guineapiggie chapter 1 . 1/27/2016
Wow, this was quite a story! I loved how you paralleled the two time lines, made the story much more intriguing. I really enjoy such stories, people disappearing and playing hide-and-seek on a global scale, and you did a great job with it! It was really really sad, of course, but Emily was perfect in this - so broken and hopeless, but organised and careful even in that, and almost serene in her defeat. That said, I'm so fond of Clyde, it's unbelievable (like, I've never once seen an episode with him in it, but I love the way you write him ).
It was great to read something from you again!

Wow. Don't leave it there! I want to know what happens and how she recovers.

Wow. This was a wonderful, immersive read. Your Emily is always so fascinating ―she's a darker version of herself, somehow, all edges and tragedy and this forlorn sort of beauty that's a always package deal with the more realistic sad love stories (she is a bit like a love story, in a way; the beginning and the end and all the hundreds of layers and feelings and tragedies in between), but at the same time she's still the same; it never feels like you make her "darker" just for the sake of it, instead it's a brilliant exploration of her character, more in depth than anything the actual TV show could (and would) ever do.

I particularly loved the touch with the artist creating a painting of her ―somehow, she strikes me as the kind of woman who would inspire a man to immortalize her in a painting... Even though I'm not a big CM fan, I enjoy your Emily immensely (perhaps "enjoy" isn't the exact word, given the subject and themes of this piece ―but I'm sure you understand what I'm saying!). Thank you for sharing this!

So excellent! Even though I beta'ed this, I still want to review! I love this one. Your Emily is so brilliant, as per usual. I love the push and pull between Clyde and Hotch (who are both so beautifully written paired with Emily, I don't know who I prefer her with) and the juxtaposition between that and the push and pull of Emily being unsure if she wants to live or die. I don't even know if that makes sense, but I feel there's a lot of Emily being on the fence here, where she isn't sure who or what she wants, and it's great. I know dark Emily is your specialty, but I just feel so bad for her and wish she could find some happiness. Hopefully her admission to Hotch and Clyde at the end is a step in that direction.

And also, this is my most favorite bit: "But she's already gone too far to stop and when they sink down on her bed, she just pulls him closer until everything bursts into light." That bursting into light thing...oh my goodness, love.

Additionally, I'm most intrigued by this Loic character. Would love to know more about him and his history with Emily.

Well done! Really well done! Loved every second.

Loved it, so well done! I just wish Hotch and Clyde can help her out of her deep depression. She has been through much and I just wish she could let herself experience love and contentment.
bottledlogic chapter 1 . 1/25/2016
Great seeing a new fic from you! (And Hotch/Emily as well - I will never not be excited for that.) Good job characterising Emily; you really do write angsty/dark!Emily fantastically.
EverythingSunny chapter 1 . 1/25/2016
I really love the way you write Emily. She's so layered and dark; she's not held back by the constraints of prime time television in your work. I hope you'll continue this... series, I suppose? It's just wonderful.
