Rip Alan. I heard this in his voice. Alan is one of my favorite actors. I will miss him but I am glad we have ways of seeing him in movies, interviews, and in our own memories. My heart will always hold a spot for such an amazing man. I think this poem works for more than just Snape. But for the man, Alan Rickman as well.

2016 was the crappiest year ever - lost so many talented people - Bowie, Rickman, Leonard Cohen, and then we ended up with a moron in the White House.

I have read much in dedication to this great man, none come close to this. It is simultaneously uplifting and heart wrenching. The character he portrayed was the definition of the saying don't judge a book by its cover. In his portrayal he became beloved to us in ways we never knew till he was gone. I weep still for the loss of a great and talented man, along with the character he will forever be.

I don't know if you still review these, but I came across this, and it spoke so profoundly to me. It's so quietly beautiful, and sad. It touched something deep in my soul, and spoke to me in more ways than I could imagine. It represented an ever flowing and changing conversation that I've had with those closest to me that I've lost. It mirrored a haunting conversation I've had many times with lost parts of myself when I'm fighting to find the light in the darker days of my depression. I truly cannot express just how much this simple rendering of words has moved me, had tears falling from my eyes, and allowed me to smile all at once.

To lose Alan, on the heels of Snape's dismissal in DH is the ultimate insult to injury. But they continue to LIVE, canon be all damned/trashed/ignored while we all continue to rebel via the creation and reading of fanfiction. VIVA SNAPE! Always.
