Naruto is simply smarter and less oblivious in this fic, because Naruto is strong enough to defeat joounin in canon so this isn't much of a stretch that he defeats sasuke easily.

story looks very promising. and the team kakashi will take is definitely something different. i look forward to the next chapter

What is naruto grinning for he about to release a can of Duck Kicking.

I'd say it's probably not too much of a stretch to say that this is a story where Naruto hides his true skill level in the academy. So long as he's currently no better than low to mid Chūnin I won't take exception to this. I generally despise OP Naruto stories. It takes all of the excitement out of the story, and is often used as a poor method of trying to force a story to focus solely on clichéd and unnecessary relationship drama.

Aside from that one concern, this was a good opening chapter. Basic character interactions have been established, and you have a solid foundation to build on. I look forward to seeing more.
