Hmm.. I sorta have mixed feelings about Monica. I don't exactly hate her, but then again, I can't say she was one of Eva Mendes' best roles. Paul and Eva had no chemistry at all in there.
What really bugged me about Monica was that Eva Mendes happened to mention about a deleted sex scene in 2 Fast 2 Furious between Brian and Monica. Like, seriously? I think that since Monica was already busy being UC in Verone's operation, she and Brian wouldn't have had time to establish any relationship.
But, I don't think there could have developed anything between Brian and Monica anyway. I mean, I don't know how long was the time window between 2nd and 4th movies, but I'd say that at first, when Brian and Rome were talking about opening up their own garage, I don't suppose Brian was going to go for FBI yet, and would have hanged with Rome, Tej and others, and gotten back into street racing. Plus that I think that the Miami crew might not really like Monica.
So, I don't believe Brian and Monica could establish anything serious, as it wouldn't be good for her reputation to hang with a former teen felon and a screwup ex-cop (yes, I know Brian got clean records, but what he did back then still can't be undone). And I don't really see Monica as a racer type. I think that Monica at this point would be focusing on her career and stuff, while Brian might hang with Rome and others. So, I think that they could maybe date one bit, before Brian realizes he still can't move on from Mia, just as long as he and Monica don't sleep together.
And I don't know if they still would be friends. I'd say that they didn't become enemies, but gradually fell out of touch.
Plus, I think that Rome/Monica would be a thousand times worse than Brian/Monica, I just can't see that one happening. I think Rome would be too much impulsive and irresponsible, and Monica would be a bit too serious, but they don't end up hating each other either.
