I started reading A Demon's Mate way back in the day. I must have been 13 at the time. I remember the story hadn't been updated in a while and I was very disappointed, as I really loved it. When the updates started again, I was very very excited. I read every single chapter and the re read the story again and again, until the next one. I've always loved your writing, and now, being 18, I still do. I still come back and read your stories. I love Serena and despite not being a very big fan of the relationship she has with Ciel, I still love this story and I really want to read the rest.

As I said, I really love your stories. I even read your book awhile back. Unfortunately, kindle decided to get rid of it without me noticing and I've been quite sad about that. Hopefully, I'll get to read the rest of this story, at least.

Got to say, one of my most favourite Black Butler fanfictions by far.
I am not really into the fandom too much to begin with. I enjoy the Mangas and cringed at the anime as more of a casual viewer. I learnt a long while ago to avoid the fandom like the plague (oooh. The irony). Most of what I have seen has been... er, questionable? Everyone seems to be obsessed with Sebastian but in all honesty, he is a real arsehole. I love him as a character but I have to admit that if he were real, I would have slapped him with some brass knuckles a long while ago. Just don't ask where I got them from.
As a general rule, I try to avoid fanfiction based on anime (especially if it is from Wattpad... I don't touch wattpad with a 3 meter pole.). Most of it is... let's go with interesting. Though sometimes the mood strikes and I relent to my whims. Picking up with fanfiction was one such time and I have got to say, I was pleasantly suprised. I don't know how late I am to the show here or whether or not you even still update but I want to share my unprofessional opinion regardless. Anyways, occasionally you do find a gem of a fanfiction that is well-written, the characters are believeable and make sense within the context of the story. AKA: Sebby doesn't fall in a lustfull love with y/n, the cutesy innocent protagonist who trips over everything because she is clumsy. And can't stop blushing at everything he does and never does anything to defend herself from his rather assertive advances. Also, Ciel has a crush on her. UwU.
Those types of plots tend to bring everyone out of character. Though your fanfiction may fall into a few of those tropes, it doesn't hinder the story at all. In fact, you pulled them all off very well ans for that, I applaude you.
I am also glad that this isn't a reader x Sebastian story because those are beyond disturbing for me. I can never read y/n as my name. It is too weird. Also, the characters in those never do what I would do. Ever. Because I don't think like an oversexed teenager. And because if this were, I probably would have stopped at the part where Serena agreed to go into Hell with Sebastian...
Being forever trapped, even if it is in a grand castle specifically tailored to your tastes is the worst Hell I can possibly think of. It is like taunting you with the freedom you know you will never have. Living for an eternity with no where to go, sitting solely in the confines of your home, just waiting for your man to get home is a horrible fate to condem anyone to. There is an entire, huge and beautiful world out there that is just waiting to be explored out there, just out of your reach. Sure, you get everything you could possibly want. Love, money, comfort, luxury... all at the cost of the most valuable thing (in my mind); freedom. The freedom to go where you please, to explore, to live a life outside of your husband's mental role for you. The freedom to do as you wish without being weighed down by the burden of responsibility or motherhood. But instead, all you can do is wander the halls of your grand manor, waiting for your doting husband who can provide anything for you except what you most desire. Your freedom. You sit still. You look pretty for him as he goes about doing his business. You smile. You pretend everything is alright. You pretend to have fallen for the illusion of freedom that he has created for you but you know that behind the smoke and mirrors lies a ball and chain attached to your ankle; forever keeping you in the beautiful castle that is slowly becoming your prison.

Ahem.
That got dark. Hehe.
Anyways, that is why I can't read the reader x Sebastian stories. This is pretty much how I view the whole situation with Serena being holed up in Hell because it is too dangerous for a demon’s mate to wander outside. I wouldn't have accepted to be honest. I would have rather died.
But I'm not criticizing you. I am just demonstrating my views and what I was thinking about during that particular scene and why I pity Serena. Some things simply aren't worth giving up your freedom for.

I know this story already has Hades and Persephone themes in it, but... for a long time I have had this crazy head canon, that Malphas is Hades, Serena is Persephone, and Aelius is Demeter. I think this story is going to play out just like the myth. Here why I think this!

* Aelius means sun (Demeter was the goddess of harvest and fertility, which sunlight has a lot to with). *Serena is a reincarnation of Aelius' mother(roles reversed here).
* His father has a plan concerning Aelius, Serena and Asta (Zeus eventually made Hades give Persephone back to her Mother).
*Aelius spends most of his time in the human world(where Demeter is), and I have a feeling that Serena would much rather be at home. She is not comfortable in the underworld.
*It's clear Aelius really misses Serena, and seems to be in a depression (Much like Demeter when her daughter was in the underworld).

I may be completely wrong about all this, but it would be interesting if it all played out that way. I am worried about poor Sebastian though. If I am right, he might lose his mate again.
