I've always loved Sally's personality, and I think you got her just right. It always bothered me that Nico never really had a mother figure. And now he does; his Aunt Sally.

I love how Sally considers Nico like her son. It's so sweet, and Nico isn't used to having someone to take care of him.
He didn't have his mother, to watch him grow up and support.
I think the relationship (Mother and Son) between him and Sally create a comfortable thing for the both of them.
The ending is especially sweet, and sad in a kind of way. (The good type).
