So much talk about potatoes in this one. Kinda interesting the way he remembers being given half a potato all those years ago, and brings it up right at that very moment in the bar. Her reaction was amusing, though it sounds like she had a bit too much to drink and probably doesn't need more than a sip from his glass.

[because that what was what people did in this world] This sentence seems a bit off. I think it would read better as "because that's what people did in this world."

The ending is very nice. I didn't see it until the end but it's like they bonded over their "I'll give you half" joke. It's sweet, saying that their mind finally caught up to their hearts, like it shows how they joked around and eventually fell in love, and all because of a potato. :)

shame there's no actual romance in this, I like these two characters...

The summary drew me in. This is a weird pairing for sure. I like the way you started off by giving us Shadis's perspective on some of his canon interactions with Sasha before getting into the rest of the story.

I don't know if you meant for the ending to be happy or not but by the time I got the last part my emotions haven't recovered and it still seems depressing. You might want to put a more conclusive ending on it if it's meant to be happy.
