I'm a little shocked at Lily's behavior. She forgot to pick Harry up when Sirius showed up and then left him to make dinner his first night home, and then didn't show up to the train or to Hogsmeade to confirm he made it back to school? It just seems odd. I don't know if that's intentional on your part.

I know you mentioned pairings wouldn't be relevant for another couple years at least, but I would appreciate Harry starting to get to know other people his own age. I'm a bit confused by why he seems to be a social outcast, because we don't really see him reflecton this interactions with much frequency, despite it being a major reason he wanted to go to Hogwarts.

Aren't the Ravenclaw dorms in the same tower as the Owlery? Also, wouldn't Harry know what legilimency is if he knows its opposite?
