A wonderful story! As always, I just love your fics. I did not much like Snape’s character though. He was a mean bastard and treated Harry badly just because he chose to give up DADA. It’s like Harry’s wishes and desires don’t matter to him. Harry should have kicked him out of his rooms. I actually was thinking of your other fic Dream Pedlary while reading this. I loved it when Harry clearly refused Snape to become something he wasn’t.

"Travelled a lot" does not equal "not boring". Just speaking about "this place and that place, this danger and that danger" can get "very boring".
Filius Flitwick isn't defenseless. Granted, he may be out of practice...
"nice dinner afterwards"... Is Kallen wooing Harry or Severus?
"charm the savage beast"... Severus Snape is not a savage beast.
Staged match... Not good. Duelling should be spontaneous, not agreed upon beforehand.
Kallen is skimming things from experts, instead of reading books and forming his own conclusions.
"look straight at Severus"... Definitely recipe for disaster. 1) Not actually duelling; 2) Kallen's nervous thoughts are clearly on display.
Formal duellists are either stupid or weak, to move slowly and cast weakly. It's not like they have to save power for a week of continuous non-stop duelling.
It looks like Kallen didn't achieve things by his own thinking; he took advise of others, applied it, and got awards for that, without mentioning people who told Kappen what to do.
