An enjoyable read.

Great story everything I want fallout 4 to be but can't and the choice of Characters were perfect this is as neutral gray area as it gets and I think its an excellent choice as far as good storytelling goes.

Feline Evolutionary Dead End chapter 73 . 11/1/2019
I realized recently I never left a review for this. Let's fix this!

Right! This story exceeded my expectations significantly. I found it jarring at first that the narrative started with Quinn already in the Brotherhood and having accomplished much already; but once that was passed I was enthralled by the story. Quinn is legitimately a flawed and human character. She isn't an immortal badass Goddess of War and Persuasion who looks at Super Mutants hard enough to render their whole species extinct, and she wasn't borne of the unholy union between an Alpha Deathclaw and the Doom Slayer.

I really do like that greatly. I love stories like the latter half of Sheason's Story and The Wanderer's Diary; but it's great to see human protagonists such as with stories like this and Lament. Issues such as her (numerous) arguments and spats with Danse, the love of her life, her drinking problem, her lashing out at others on instinct with scathing and venomous retorts (the against Carson in particular), all of it added depth and nuance to her character that made her feel more like an actual person.

Danse was handled extraordinarily well, Hell, everyone was really. Yes, even Deacon. I was never fond of him honestly. Call me biased, but I am pleased with how he was handled. There simply would have been no real easy way to pull off keeping him alive. Hancock is still my favorite, even in this story here. But, I have to say that you've actually made me like Danse. I never hated him, I just didn't have much use or interest in him or his character in the game itself.

Here? The development was incredible. His darkest hours, his bigotry and how he honest to God tried his best to change as the story progressed, despite finding it difficult to do so, even his past with Elder Maxson was fascinating and served well in fleshing him out as a character. His romance with Quinn took a long time to actually bear fruits and was full of strife and problems. Which, is rare. Really rare actually. I don't go out of my way to read romance fics or webcomics; but the times I do? Rarely are issues between the two brought up or created in any meaningful way. Sooo, props for that. Seriously, it was great seeing that despite all their problems they managed to work them out in the end. It just made it that much more rewarding.

Side characters deserve special mention. Carson and Rachel were two of my favorites by far. They too were fleshed out and interesting characters with their own flaws and part in the story. It's good you didn't just stick to canon characters only but instead fleshed out the Brotherhood as a whole with new ones for the story. OCs tend to get a bad rep (one I wholly understand), but these worked to the story's advantage well. There was more I wanted to cover I think? But it's been a few months since I read this. I don't want to go off on stuff I may not be remembering right. I digress. It does make me happy to see this fandom has stories of this quality. Makes coming back to this website still worthwhile.

I do plan to read Making One's Bones in the near future; but I do want to wait for a buffer to build up first. If it's anything like this story I am certain it will be excellent.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best Fallout 4 stories I've EVER read. I greatly enjoyed the more realistic approach that was taken on many problematic situations in the game, and I appreciate that you had the foresight to reshape those moments.

As I look back on this work, I can't help but correlate parts of it to my own life (minus the nuclear holocaust, obviously. LOL), with the heartache, anger, and most importantly, falling in love again.

You inspired me to try my hand at writing, piqued my interest in the Tales of King Arthur, and overall reignited my passion for the Fallout franchise.

Thank you. 3
Nachours chapter 73 . 8/8/2019
I... I'm sitting here in tears. Just as Quinn and Danse have found ultimate relief and closure, I oddly feel I have, too. I fumbled through in search of what I thought was just prolonging of the Fallout 4 universe, but by this chapter, I realized all I needed was peace for Danse. Blind Betrayal and the lack of closure one receives during a playthrough is utterly dissatisfying. Thank you... Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this story.
Nachours chapter 51 . 8/4/2019
Wow...good on you for defending your decisions. The intelligible flow of this story is one of your strongest leads while writing.

Personally, during my first playthrough, I felt completely trapped on which faction to choose. As you have pointed out, the BOS are just close-minded racists that use justice/order to justify murder, the RR are a group personally offended for machines and will kill every beating heart before a metal one, and The Institute...well, I don't even think they can fathom their future without destroying the entire commonwealth population. After flitting back and forth between sides (oh, you don't even know the controversial choices I made in such a linear fashion), I eventually said to hell with it. The Minutemen are the only people who care for the freedom and health of the entire Commonwealth and want absolutely zero say in how they live their lives (as long as they're not hostile). I was with the BOS long enough to kill of the RR and it was not easy. God, what a choicy game...

Anyway, I respect all the decisions you've made. As a [fanfiction] writer, you require a dedication to the truth of how characters will act and what situations will come of it. You can't just ignore these little things to go along with your agenda. Truth to the characters and plot will lead a more believable read and leave a stronger connection with the story. Many writers have A LOT to learn about that, but all in due time. I think most of us have to start out building a cheesy plot that takes little regard for a character's realistic actions in order to realize that even though you got to fulfill the story inside your head, the plot simply wasn't authentic.

Great job with this story. I know it's been years since you've written... But it's still very much so being enjoyed today. Thanks.

I don't know if you're still present on this website, but I've just discovered and finished Fallout4 and I'm in love with your story. The writing flow keeps me begging for more and your character personality reflections and developments are extraordinary. Thank you for bringing this story to reality. I'm only halfway through right now, but this is one of the few fanfictions where I want to know the end but I never want it to stop. Excellent job.

Hi there. Stumbled over your story a few days ago and I am craving it. I love your writing very muchYou do such an awesome job here. As a huge fan of the Brotherhood and a bigger lover of Paladin Danse i just have to tell you how terrible I felt doing the quest "Rocket's Red Glare"... I stopped that game after I received the trophy for it, deleted it and even wrote a one shot about it. I was so depressed at this time. Writing about it felt good.

Don't get bothered on what others say. It's your story, that is all that matters.
(hah! I don't even know how long it's been since you wrote this beauty. I just thought I let you know that even now someone is enjoying your work.)
Thank you very much that you wrote this

I've always found it really hard to find a good fanfic that treated the characters I love like real people, not sex-driven ideas of the character.
This has been an excellent read. I read it over the course of three days and enjoyed every chapter. The characters were familiar and written well; Their actions were written in ways that we're believable. The romance felt genuine and real and my heart would break whenever something would jepardize them. Reading the overarching story of them developing not only as lovers but into better, more accepting and trusting people was the most pleasant experience I've had all week.

You are an extremely gifted writer. I will definitely be checking out your other fics; Fallout related or not!

Usually when I read completed fanfics, I save my review until the end, that's just how I do things. But, given your A/N, I wanted to leave you a bit of encouragement here. First, I wanted to say you earned a lot of respect for the way you handled the criticism over your RR treatment. I'm glad you stuck to your guns; I think it would have made less of an impact if you're relented and rewritten. Second, no, I don't particularly *like* what happens to the Railroad, but the way you told it did make me happy. Does that make any sense? Yes, you get close to them as you play through their side, but you're absolutely right, when it comes right down to it, the Railroad really AREN'T "good" people. I thought that my first playthrough, and I continue to think that. If you think about it, they're just as racist (if synths can even be considered a true "race") as the Brotherhood; in particular the mission where you set up to free all the synths at once, they as much as flat-out SAY "screw the humans, synths forever yo!". So honestly, as much as I'm a Deacon fan (and I am, he's probably one of my three favorites), I just wanted to say how impressed I am that you managed to give him what he had coming to him, but you also managed to give him a bit of (should I use the word?) "dignity", in death. So. There's my little midway-towards-the-end review, and I'm looking forward to Quinn's adventures from here! And, thanks for the story!

Lady Arctica chapter 73 . 4/11/2018
I have read all 73 chapters in one sitting, RIP my sanity x.x

BUT OH MY FREAKING GAWD

I loved it, every single part. Even the drama parts. Just wow. I have no words.

The funny part tho, we both named are SS's Quinn and both romanced Danse. Ahhh, great minds~
Akaji chapter 73 . 2/19/2018
I really loved this fic. You kept the action, drama, and romance all going so perfectly that this story became addicting. At first, I thought you had used all F4 (with the exception of Sarah, and, in a way, Quinn), but as I neared the end of the story, I did some research and noticed that neither Carson, or Rachel, and a few other people, were in-game. They were so in depth that I automatically thought, 'Okay, she's using unfamiliar F4 characters. That's cool.' But you made it even better by adding your own OC's with a full background and story. I love that!
... Or I could be wrong and Google could be lying to me ;-;.. But I doubt it. You're really creative and I wouldn't be surprised if you added a few awesome OCs. Keep up the good work!
I'm not sure if you still read the reviews for this story, but I still wanted to leave one anyway.
And finally, I can't wait for you to finish "Making One's Bones." I read the first chapter and immediately became interested (great job on your part!)
Sorry about the long review but I had a lot to say...
Thank you again!
LB chapter 73 . 2/15/2018
Thanks so much for a magical wasteland faery tale. Crushed that their story "ended" but so pleased with the your results. God love Danse, thank you for finishing from his perspective; love Quinn to death but Danse's personality, or story more like, was so flawed in the game it gives me shivers to imagine Quinn and his family (including BOS) conquered prejudice and he was able to find his truth. My heart swells finally seeing he received peace, understanding, and acceptance. For sure looking to your other works.
