Oh, this is beautiful and frustrating and heartbreaking at the same time.

What I find so striking here, and that you illustrate so well, is Lagertha's struggle with a woman's place in Viking society. While free women had many rights, they also had many restrictions, and it was still a patriarchy. She is trying to carve a place for herself but there is no way around the fact that to do it, she will have to deal with the same men who have betrayed her again and again.

I do hope you continue to write and that there will be more soon. At least before Season 5 comes out!

I love seeing Ragnar's growth here and also the way you write about their silent agreement being less 'fated' than 'egos' (though Ragnar still needs a boot to somewhere harmless but painful). I can't wait to see what happens in chapter three between them and how the story progresses! And how Bjorn might speak with them both.

I'm starting to think the series writers have no intention of ever resolving the breeches in trust between Ragnar and Floki and Ragnar and Lagertha, which of course has me desperate for it.
