As for recommendations, hmm... I agree with the recommendation for the "Last Day Again" series by Phantom's Echo. I'm also really fond of Astorii's "You See But Do Not Observe" series on archiveofourown, which is basically a what-if on "what if Shinichi could see ghosts," starting from his childhood and into the events of the series. It has different parts dedicated to examining his relationship with Ran, Haibara, Hattori, Kaito, and Toichi. It's actually really good, and plays the premise with surprising emotional realism, highly recommend.

"Fallout" by The Silversage here on FFN hasn't been updated in forever but its really good and lets off at a fairly conclusive spot anyways, so I'd still recommend it. It's about the inevitable consequences that would have followed the The Raven Chaser if it was actually canon.

I also love love love LunaDarkside's "The Forensics of Falling" and its sequel, "The Toxicology of Trust," which are both just really damn well-written casefics set in an alternate universe where Shinichi is the youngest police inspector in years and Kaito's a famous actor whose fans have begun turning up dead. Actually, I'd go so far as to say that "The Forensics of Falling" is probably my favorite on this entire list. Luna's tone for these stories is probably the most reminiscent of your own writing when it comes to Shinichi and Kaito. LunaDarkside actually has a LOT of stories - most of which are still on FFN - and has this way of writing that's both witty and really funny; these two stories happen to be my favorite, but her others range from generally good to hilarious. "The Forensics of Falling" is here on FFN, but its sequel, "The Toxicology of Trust," is on archiveofourown.

And for something far more dramatic, Scratchienail's "Dominoes" and "Schrodinger's Detective" on archiveofourown are really well written and get you invested pretty quickly. "Schrodinger's Detective" is about Hakuba and the Kid Capture Brigade looking into Kudo Shinichi's disappearance and becoming spectacularly confused, all the while tangling themselves up in a very dangerous mess they don't understand. "Dominoes" as a superhero AU that acts as a deconstruction fic. That may not sound like much, but it's honestly probably the best-written Detective Conan fic I've ever read. I feel I should warn you that "Dominoes" deals with a lot of themes of various kinds of abuse and in particular has a really in-depth look at emotional and psychological abuse, and it's been difficult for some people to read because of that, so I feel you deserve the heads-up. It also has upset some people because it twists characters a LOT based on their changed circumstances. And it has its own ridiculously tvtropes page, which I think is how I found it. Scratchienails also has a funnier and more lighthearted story called "How To Be A Double Agent 101," in which a group of Black Org NOCs discover Conan and each wants to protect him from the others without blowing the fact that they're not a ruthless murderer and without knowing the others around them are also moles trying to protect Conan. So everyone's trying to protect Conan from each other while still desperately trying to flex their fake heartless murderer credentials and it's a ridiculous, hilarious mess.

Really glad you updated. Your writing is worth waiting for. I hope you can find ways to continue doing what you love, for both your sake and the sake of your eager audience!

I'm really glad to see a new chapter! Both because I love this story and because I appreciate proof of your continued wellbeing. I hope your animals are likewise well.

As for the chapter itself, I love it. Shinichi's prank was clever and kind of adorable. I also love the more casual interactions with his law-enforcement friends. It's nice to see the mutual fondness and respect, which comes through clearly in your writing.

You've mentioned troubles and workarounds for reading on a screen. May I ask whether you can see images, if not detailed ones? I'd like to draw pranked-Kaito and maybe send it to you.
