Like her canon counterpart, Gwen made it into the Final 2, though Tyler making it to the Final 2 of this What If? TDI AU was a pleasant surprise, since he overcame the phobia challenge thanks to Katie using Lindsay as a motivating factor.

It's interesting to see how ONE different eliminee or a different event can set off a whole different chain of eliminationsand events, lol. I liked this chapter in that some of the eliminations actually caught me offguard. I mean, Bridgette being gone early? Dang, nice surprise :)

Hmm... what if Amy and Sammy were on separate teams in Pahkitew Island?

If I had to predict which characters would die in Despair Island S3:

Amy - Surely would die.
Beardo - He has problems to socialize and in this competition it would be worse. He dies.
Dave - I don't belive he would survive. Maybe first eliminated.
Ella - Probably would have a very different attitude and would die.
Jasmine - One of the most strong competitors. This can help her to survive, but also it could be a problem if the others notice that. 7/10 survive.
Leonard - Unless he can use real magic he dies.
Max- He would die. He wouldn't last more than 3 episodes.
Rodney - I don't belive he would survive.
Samey - She is one of my favourite characters in TD but probably it would die. Maybe she can have an alliance like Leshawna and Beth and she could finish in 5th or 4th, but I don't belive she would survive.
Scarlett - She will go crazy and surely would die.
Shawn - Same as Jasmine.
Sky - Another strong contestant, but I think she wouldn't survive.
Sugar - She can be an antagonist but she surely would die.
Topher - Two possible options. He admires Chris and is a fanatic of Despair Island (like Sierra) or would try to take Chris place, failing. He won't survive.

I wonder how it would be the relationship between the twins. If this can change their relationship or not.

Yea, I always figured Katie very much would have had potential to go farther than Sadie if the latter were voted off of The Sucky Outdoors instead. Nice rewrite, didn't expect Tyler to make finale!

Also, I saw you incorporated the DJ/Katie ship in there too. No surprise there, considering it seems to be a very common fan pairing on this site.

I never would have expected to see an update for this considering it's been about 3 years, but here we are! I also made sure to add a follow since I originally didn't considering I had no idea you were going to make another update, but I'm glad you did and that there's more to come! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing season 3 of Despair Island, so good luck with that!

Speaking of that, I'm gonna go through my predictions quickly:

Amy- Definitely gonna die, but I'm curious to see when it is she ends up getting eliminated and what she'll end up doing beforehand.

Beardo- Despite lots of room for potential (as this site has very well proven), I'm predicting he's gonna die since I can't really see many big chances of him surviving.

Dave- Likely gonna die, and I'm guessing there probably aren't gonna be any official couples by the end of the season unless Shawn and Jasmine both survive, which could definitely happen. I am kinda curious though where he ends up and how he ends up reacting to the insanity of DI and stuff, lol.

Ella- Whew... I dunno honestly. I think if there were any season for her to at least make it as far as the merge, it would probably be a World Tour-type season like this (not that she'd have any chance of winning like in Fangren's WT fic). But given the shocking things that DI involves, her usual disposition (plus your thoughts on her, not that that alone is gonna affect the outcome), I kinda have the sinking feeling she's probably gonna get eliminated early and likely die, as harsh as it may seem.

Jasmine- Definitely has lots of potential to survive, and that's my prediction. Out of all of the PI characters, she's easily one of the most athletically capable and she has all of the character traits and leadership skills (among other things) required to make it far. She's probably gonna develop the same relationship with Shawn and likely end up as an official couple by season's end if they both survive.

Leonard- He's dead, that's a no-brainer, LOL.

Max- Same as above.

Rodney- Same as previous two.

Sammy- Another tough prediction... I think that she has a chance of surviving given her sympathetic qualities, being an underdog fan favorite, and the fact that she has so much potential to grow and become much more determined. That being said, if she does end up dying, I won't be all that surprised (though it would kinda suck to see).

Scarlett- I could potentially see her doing something very evil and psycho that could have her go far, but I just can't see her surviving after knowing what her true colors are and given that Chris is probably gonna end up disqualifying her again for that, except this time also get killed, lol.

Shawn- Very similar things I said about Jasmine. He definitely has both the physical and survival skills that are needed to survive. I think he'll start out the same way and have the same badass development as he did in canon and form a relationship with Jasmine, though I doubt he's gonna end up winning again because I feel like that would be too predictable.

Sky- She has potential to survive given her athletic skills and generally friendly attitude, but I also wouldn't be too surprised if she ends up dying. I predict she's going to at least make the merge and develop a friendship with Dave, but nothing more than that, similar to Mike and Zoey in Despair Island 2.

Sugar- She probably will incorporate the same villainous traits as her canon self, but she definitely won't place higher than her canon self and will almost definitely die.

Topher- While I'm curious to see how you incorporate him into a season like this, I also predict he's definitely gonna die too.

I think the predictions involving the PI characters are easier to make because the general opinions, room for growth, overall likability, amount of interesting traits, etc. are very much more pronounced and the opinions are not nearly as divided as the first and second generation cast (with a few exceptions of course). Though I would love to be proven wrong with some of my predictions.

When they tell me it was a what-if Sadie go instead of Katie, I expect something more ordinary, but I was quite surprised in a good way.

I love the structure, the change in the relationships, and how you use the same plots as in the island, with the changes. Especially the returning camper to complete Gwen plotline, and how you make Courtney, an antagonist without going full Courtney in action.

Also, Katie x DJ was great, it reminds me of the old times, good shipping. The only thing I didn’t like is that Duncan would be beating Harold for Rigging the votes, at least until chapter 22 ;D. But nevertheless, it is a great story. Thanks for writing.
