QUEENSPELLER67 chapter 3 . 2/12/2018 Venusaur is one of my favorite Pokemon in general. If memory serves, it was the first fully evolved of the Kanto starters to appear in the anime. Nice entry! |
QUEENSPELLER67 chapter 2 . 10/2/2017 Wow. I liked the conversation between Isabelle/Izzy's Bulbasaur and Ivysaur. |
QUEENSPELLER67 chapter 1 . 10/2/2017 I liked the mention of Erika. I also liked the mention of the Orange Islands nurse. |
SinnohFirefly chapter 151 . 12/6/2016 Oh Izzy! Congratulations on finishing the most epic piece of Pokémon fiction I have ever read * heart * I can only imagine what this must mean to you and how proud you must feel with this terrific accomplishment! You did it! You amaze me Izzy. From the second I began reading the story until the very end I fell more and more in love with it. This has been my safe haven and my refuge from life for a few months now. And even when life was harsh and unbearable, as we all know it can get, this story brought me comfort to my soul, a smile to my face and a tear to my eye (I will try to learn from the Dragonite in these last three chapters to complain less and live more. I truly hope we see more of him in the future). I don't believe in accidents, I was meant to find this masterpiece and meet one of the kindest, bravest and most brilliant of writers, someone I am glad to call a friend *tearful hug* Thank you for allowing a latecomer like me to partake in this grand adventure. You sure know how to blow us readers away... no one was expecting Dom's proposal... But it felt so right. They have always been perfect for and with one another. Both are brave, loyal, stubborn and outspoken. Yet both are so gentle, caring and loving towards each other and towards all Pokémon. Please please create a short story with their wedding? I think a Psuduck and Paras would be the perfect figurines on the cake hahaha I might one day quote Dom's speech should I one day find myself proposing to someone I love and wish to spend the rest of my life with. It was divine. Sending you so much love and support, Izzy. You have done us and the Pokémon fandom proud and I am insanely happy for you *heart* Though I will hopefully begin the 2nd season some day soon, life has a terrible way of getting in the way. BUT it's definitely on my bucketlist. Perhaps I will speed-read it like I did with this story in a calmer stage of my life? Rest assured I will read Season 2, eventually, with as much enthusiasm and gusto as I did this season. Still would love a printed version of this masterpiece, name your price : D Wishing you nothing but joy, love and lots of happiness Izzy. May this be the beginning of a beautiful, blossoming writing career. The world's biggest hug and all my love, Your friend and faithful fan, Sinnoh Firefly P.s. Never stop writing and doing the things you love. You deserve nothing but the best and your very own happy ending* |
Guest chapter 150 . 12/6/2016 Such power. Every nerve, every fibre within me trembled as I hung on the edge of my seat trying to grasp, trying to absorb all that was happening around Dom, Giovanni ans Izzy... Yet again our author is trying to subtely teach us the dangers of tamperibg with what ought not be tampered with. This creature, this man made, artificial abomination has no natural checks. As it was genetically engineered ( who knows what horrors it had to endure) it lacks the most natural of emotions: curiosity, freedom of thought, compassion, mercy but most of all love... It was designed to be the best, to be the ultimate fighting machine, to be unbeatable. Such power. How it so effortlessly tossed around Dom and Izzy's Pokémon, how it could so easily battle and defeat 6 other Pokémon, how it was left virtually ubtouched, deflecting every attack ained its way. Such raw, savage, unlimited power . But this is only the airface of its abilities. Mind control, levitation, telepathy, weather manipulation, catching and cloning other Pokémon - Mewtwo is the pinnacle of Pokémon power. And yet... you can't help feel pity at how powerless this majestic Pokémon is. It is under the tyrannical Giovanni's complete and utter control. How did he manage to tame such a powerful and intelligent beast is beyond me... but knowing the leader of Team Rocket, I suslect some sort of foul play and mental control of his own. This chapter reveals beaitifully the depth of Dom and Izzy's relationship, it continues Dom's determination and rock hard resolution in doing whatever he can to save his love. He does everything in his power to protect her, free her, despite being visibly shaken and overcome with worry at the Nurse's safety and wellbeing. And despite all his valiant efforts, only once Giovanni had finished toying with them does he get bored and decide to release Izzy. A special mention goes to three characters here: firstly, Machoke who does his best to protect and defend his human from the falling debris all around them, Dominic who recklessly braves his way towards Izzy not giving a damn about his own safety - just as long as Isabelle isn't harmed or get put in more danger. If this isn't a sign of true love I don't know what is; risking your life and wellbeing to save that of a loved one's. But the highlight in this section of the chapter was Chansey. Our fiesty, gutsy egg-carrying Pokémon is loyal without a fault and obedient to Dom despite always being free-spirited and independent beforehand. She aids her comrades in war, presumably healing their wounds and tossing softboiled eggs to help her teammates replace their waning HP. But the most touching and heartwarming moment was wahen our cute white and pink Pokémon realizes how serious the condition her Trainer is in. She tries everything she can think of, recalling the medical training that Isabelle had given her. Seeing that nothing was working, Chansey loses control emotionally and breaks down, desperately slapping her Trainer not to injure her but to gey a response, any response, and to wake her up. The final scene when Dom passionately hugs his bewildered girlfriend is one of the most emotional scenes I have read. Pressing her tightly against him but ever so cautiously so as not to hurt her or further her injuries... So damn beautiful... We can only imagine what is lying next but I imagine a long, hard fought battle and an epic conclusion to this most brilliant of narratives is but a chapter away... I simply can't wait to see the final battle and see how it all ends... On a peraonal note my humblest apologies for not replying in forever. Too much life has been getting in the way, but even so I haven't forgitten about this story. And thank you so much for another gem of a chapter. Another one of my favourites and I am so blessed and grateful to have been given the opportunity to find and read this life changing story. Will try read the final chapter at home because it's been almost two hours at work trying to read and review this chapter alone with all the clients. Hahaha All my love and a big hug* Sinnoh Firefly xoxo |
Dusktrail chapter 5 . 11/22/2016 I've just read the first five chapters and, so far, an interesting read. First off, I have to say that structuring the story around the pokedex - each chapter featuring a pokemon corresponding to its number - was an intriguing and unique choice. The chapters are very short and episodic, which basically makes this not so much a single, complete story (though it appears the chapters are chronologically connected) but rather a series of separate, but thematically related flash fiction stories. Both Isabelle and the pokemon she runs into along the way are characterized well, a feat made more significant given the shortness of each chapter. The overall quality of the prose is also very good. I was pleasantly surprised to find writing of this quality in such compact chapters. Ultimately, I think that this story's frugality of prose is also the source of its charm. It's a light, yet enjoyable read that can be easily picked up any time one has a moment to spare. This is the kind of story that could go through every single pokedex, spanning hundreds of chapters, and not feel burdensome the way that starting an 800,000 word epic might feel. On the contrary, I can imagine many would feel a certain anticipation upon nearing a chapter corresponding to a favorite pokemon type. Kudos for your inventive style that is simple, elegant and enjoyable. |
DragonFelicis chapter 151 . 11/15/2016 It has been quite the journey hasn't it? I remember first finding this story, and reviewing the chapters in all the wrong order. Beedrill was my first, and I didn't expect such a warm response, having never gotten any real response from stories I had reviewed before. I had a feeling you'd update this story to be finished precisely on the same day you started it, one year later. I am honoured to have read your work of art. I am honoured by the response you gave, the insightful talks we have had, the jokes we have shared, the odd similarities between the female nurse character and me the male nurse-to-be. Although I know that was unintentional and Izzy is still vastly different from me. This chapter is an amazing way to cap off diary one. We see the love between Dominic and Isabelle capatilised in the most wonderful of ways. On the spot, in a patients room, with no ring. And it was truly perfect, it showed the type of people they were in a symbolic way. Izzy the healer, desiring only the happiness and recovery of an abused pokemon and Dom, having rescued her after such a moment of panic. Mew may have appeared because of the pure heart of Dragonite, but it wouldn't have risked itself in such a fashion and allowed Izzy to catch it, had it not seen the pure love they have for each other and pokemon. I cannot ever say it enough, how amazing this story is and how great you are. As a writer we all start off small, we all start of uncertain, we all start of questioning and that last bit never goes away. So it was an honour to read as you did grow, as you improved, as people became more solid, as the skill of describing the wonderful world of pokemon and Izzy and Dom's love of each other and the pokemon they work with. I regret not always being there. I regret not reviewing as soon as I saw an update. I regret coming and going so sporadically. And I'm sorry, I hope you'll forgive that and put up with me in the future because I'm NOT going away any time soon :P I hope to read, review and suggest as the time goes on and keep on watching as your skill grows only the greater. So thank you. Thank you from all who have reviewed. Thank you for the far greater who have not, finding the words can be difficult, one may not have the time, one may be embarrassed. Writing reviews can be nerve wracking in of themselves, not being sure if the author will appreciate your words, even if they can be critical. Not being sure and many never know if they are, because so many authors don't respond. But you do, to every single one no matter how small. So finally keep on at it. We don't expect or demand you to go on forever, that can be demoralising worse than any bad review. Just know that we all love your work. From the U.S.A to the Netherlands, to Africa, Asia, Europe and even down here in Australia, the Land Down Under. You can be sure that us over here love your work. And thanks for being a friend. |
DragonFelicis chapter 150 . 11/15/2016 A team of two is worthy of any battle. Giovanni is twisted, he used Izzy to keep Mewtwo alive. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, I see now that this is well before Mewtwo strikes off on his own. It is not a bad thing Mewtwo survived, but a terrible thing for what Giovanni did to do it. I do look forawrd to his plans and dreams crashing down around him. Dom battled amazingly, figuring out how to battle a deity class legendary in a few moments and while he never could have beaten Mewtwo, clearly winning wasn't what he needed to do. He likely was getting close to breaking that armour and freeing Mewtwo from Giovanni's control. Bad boss bastard didn't want to take the risk and ran like a coward, at least he released Izzy. Poor girl. Mental control is just wrong, it is so invocative of horrible things. Dominating someone's mind so utterly that they can't control themselves. Man it is just wrong. Chansey and Dom trying to revive Izzy was painful to read. It was done incredibly well. Chansey even slapping her and Dom exploding about it... poweful. |
DragonFelicis chapter 149 . 11/15/2016 You know I remember suggesting something like this ages ago, so this doesn't come as a surprise. Still I can't begin to imagine how Izzy will react and recover from this. This is so far past to far. Mental control is just foul. Giovanni and Mewtwo think they have won. I feel for that Dragonite, I think it was doing that of its own volition, bring Dom to her to save her. Izzy would care, Dragonite must know that. |
DragonFelicis chapter 148 . 11/15/2016 Take. Them. Out. Izzy and Dom could most definitely do quite a hit to the bloody Team Rocket. I love the trio but everyone else in that organization... Grr. I'd use stronger words, but I don't. Awe they said I love you. Adorable. Izzy is strong, she says she doesn't have the iron will to quell a Gyrados and that maybe true. But she is far stronger than she gives herself credit for, until something makes her react. Then she knows. |
DragonFelicis chapter 147 . 11/15/2016 Oh. Oh. OH! WOwzes, I did not expect something like that. No, no I did not. Probably because of a conversation we had so very long ago... I don't forget things easily, it's weird. Well uh... I'm not really sure what to say here, I'm a little drained. I'm hoping to finish my reviews before I have to do my presentation, but you know me... |
DragonFelicis chapter 146 . 11/15/2016 ... Oh... GYUAAH! I'd leave it there and continue in a PM. But that wouldn't be right... Oh man. Why :'( Why are things so hard for Izzy. Why do her pokemon keep leaving her? Oh... I'm sad, probably even sadder than Ivysaur. At least I knew where he was, and I knew it was coming. Did he know Moltres beforehand? I doubt that adorable little chick is his, but a long time ago before she captured him. Did he try then? Ah... I can be happy for Pidgeot, but wow. Izzy's pledge to save these pokemon, it just keeps taking from her. She has just got to be the best person ever! Bringing these pokemon in and letting them go once they find what they really want. But that sucks. In a good way, but it does. |
DragonFelicis chapter 145 . 11/15/2016 ... Zapdos was always my favourite of the three, and I don't know why... A village worshiping legends are of no surprise, at least they shouldn't be. Funnily enough it kind of does surprise me, must be a very rural village that doesn't get so much tourists as cities and places that would bring technology. This girl though. Izzy is right, people shouldn't be allowed to capture the legends, legends that see one as worthy and join under their own free will could work, but then they wouldn't be captured but partnered. A few words is never enough though, and just imagine would the villages would have done to the girl had she caught Zapdos. Just getting it into the pokeball would be maddening enough but they can break free. If she actually caught it though... jeez. I like the bit about the chicks of these legends, I believe that is true. That most legendary pokemon are legendary because of their power and their rarity. Mythical pokemon like ones that are literally an aspect of nature or reality could not be captured. It just wouldn't work. But these ones... |
DragonFelicis chapter 144 . 11/15/2016 So... I really should have reviewed this a long time ago. It was my request after all and I apologise so many times for being so slack. So first we here about another Joy who defies usual conventions set by the masses, flaming red hair I see. I really liked the mention of pokemon hair colours, Magmar and Vulpix red. Love it. And a joy with almost an entire team of Fire types. Except for one Jynx, who indeed would be able to weather the, well, weather on that peak quite easily. Hah Felix and his pokeball socks, I approve much the same as Izzy. Pity he had to get so comfortable though, he missed the important bit. Slacker. So Joy is affiliated in a way to this Articuno... I'm guessing that this is not the first storm it had whipped up in order to get her attention to fallen travelers. Good on legendaries, most of them work only to protect and preserve lives. Pidgeot was as awesome as always, braving the cold of a snowy mountain with ease just to get Izzy to her location. He may not be as majestic as Articuno but I feel that had they met, there would have been respect both ways. |
DragonFelicis chapter 143 . 11/15/2016 Who likes getting dirty? Not me that's for sure. She mentioned that getting dirty was not her thing a couple of times, but here it was really outlined. Snorlax, Snorlax, Snorlax. Big pokemon, big eater and big trouble. Kingler was awesome, snapping vines with care and precision and Dom truly knew what he was doing there. But accidents happen, and accidents can do serious harm. Not Kingler, I love Kingler. Izzy switched to her element which was impressive to see how she changed from the cautious and uncomfortable one to the assertive one. Kingler lived which is great but yeah, he is an old pokemon and the elderly don't heal so well. Specially not from all his legs getting broken. That final line... this field medic stuff was much more exciting than being a travelling nurse... interesting. |
