Captured!Sabo instead of Captured!Ace? Could be interesting. As he mentioned that the Revolutionaries can't afford for him to get an official bounty yet, he could claim to be a Whitebeard Pirate and Pops would back him up, especially since he's helping Ace track down a traitor (and saved Thatch's life, both from the stabbing and noticing it might be a poisoned blade-Thatch would have gone to sleep and died if he hadn't been dragged to medical). Sabo wouldn't be such a spectacle as Sengoku made of Ace, as long as no one lets slip his actual epithet. Though he might get used as bait, should Ace react badly enough when he's captured- all of the Whitebeard Crew call each other as siblings so no one would think Sabo any different from the rest of them without more information.

Crap. Teach was Ace's second. He knows perfectly well who Sabo is, both to Ace and to the Revolutionaries. If he's still the one to do the capturing...
Oh well, so much for those ideas.

One upside to a Captured!Sabo is that I can see the Revolutionaries coming up with a plan more like the one and only successful-Ace-rescue plan among my favorites.
The Strawhats decided to be sneaky ninja-esque pirates, and snuck aboard the ship transporting a bound Ace from Impel Down to Marineford. Released Ace, dressed him up like they were to sneak around and out again, and replaced him with a knocked-out marine, taking advantage of the sack over Ace's head and the gag.
No one outside the Strawhat Crew (and Ace) realized anything was amiss until partway through the big dramatic execution speeches and confrontations, when they finally took the hood off, by which point the Strawhats were well away safely. I think Whitebeard and his crew cheered and laughed and left so quickly and easily it flummoxed the bewildered marine's even further, and Garp was probably very relieved and maybe amused and may have been kicked off the platform by his grumpy colleague. XD
