Guest chapter 6 . 1/17/2016
Please continue this. The dynamic between frisk and Chara is amazing. You are perfectly capturing the feeling of deep despair, and depression. Normally I'm nor one for angsty stories, but this is just too good to pass up. Please continue this in my hope that frisk and their friend get a happy ending
Guest chapter 6 . 12/28/2015
I do hope you continue this sometime, it is extremely good and we'll written.
Antoine chapter 6 . 12/23/2015
This was a very comforting opening scene. I definitely can relate to how something as simple as a good shower can really help with the "Everything is bad, and I am not okay" feeling.

I enjoyed the rather dark flashback to Frisk's attempts to spare Sans. It does really make me think about the awful energy that motivated Frisk to keep coming back to that room instead of resetting.

I also loved seeing Papyrus's entrance! Once again, each of the characters feel genuine, the way they speak feels authentic relating to the game. I could see his heroic pose in my head when he declared his acceptance of the request to go cheer Frisk. His attitude is always adorable! I cannot help but root for him in any case.

Undyne also feels very authentic, and I appreciate that a lot. I also liked the little glimpse into how things had changed at large with the opening of the barrier.

I loved seeing Alphys as well. I keep saying it, but each character is worth a separate mention. Alphys feels so genuine. I love her nervousness and awkwardness, and I love the sort of life that she has apparently built on the beach with Undyne. I do wonder about Sans's plan involving a synthetic soul.

Papyrus, again, is adorable. The way he greeted Frisk just felt so heartwarming, and it reminds me of how important friends can be when struggling with depression.

I loved the glimpse into Frisk's reasons for scaling Mt. Ebott so long ago. That little glimpse into waiting in an empty house and the use of the phrase "but nobody came" were really good.

I also loved seeing Undyne playing with Papyrus. That line Undyne inadvertently quoted from the genocide route and Frisk's reaction to it was a really powerful touch, in my opinion.

I am so excited to see more!
Antoine chapter 5 . 12/23/2015
I liked the initial exchange between Frisk and Chara. I look forward to seeing more about Chara's personality and goals, perhaps.

I also loved seeing what happened when Frisk went to visit Flowey. The terror of Frisk feeling their control over themself slip away was really vivid!

I also really felt pity and sympathy for poor Toriel, trying so hard to help Frisk but unable to understand what was going on.

I was really pleased to see Sans taking that sort of confrontational stance with Frisk. Toriel had tried a much gentler approach, and it was not working, so it made sense that Sans had to be a bit more direct.

I really liked the use of Sans's secret room in his explanation. It actually reminds me a little bit of a kind of police interrogation, showing the "suspect" some of the evidence in order to prompt them to provide more information.

I feel that Sans's tone is captured very well in this story. It feels just like the way he would speak in the game. I really liked this bit of exposition, and it makes me excited to read more!
Antoine chapter 4 . 12/22/2015
I really liked this glimpse from Toriel's perspective.

I also loved seeing their meeting from Sans's perspective. I really feel these characters come to life, and I look forward to the next chapter!
Antoine chapter 3 . 12/8/2015
I love this story, and I was happy to read this next chapter.

The dream sequences and memories really help set the mood on Sans's part.
Antoine chapter 2 . 12/6/2015
I felt bad reading the beginning of this chapter, seeing the poor naive Papyrus making himself so vulnerable. I, myself, have started a genocide run, and I can relate so well to that feeling of being conflicted but also that it is too late to turn back.

I feel that the writing style really speaks to the player, much as that of the original game does, and that is wonderful!

I must say, I was greatly intrigued by the mention of the hooded figure. :)
Antoine chapter 1 . 11/29/2015
First, I want to say that I got the "Family Ending" on my first playthrough, followed immediately by the "True Pacifist" ending. Afterward, I started reading about other endings, and when I learned about the permanent taint a "Genocide" run would have on one's future games, it really affected me. I thought about a tormented individual desperate to but unable to atone for past transgressions. I thought about writing a story about that sort of perspective, but decided to check to see if anyone else was already doing it, and here we are!

I also want to say that I really appreciate you leaving Frisk gender-neutral. It is not really that I mind when other authors decide to assign Frisk a gender, as Frisk's true gender identity is entirely up to interpretation, but the game is so good at leaving it neutral, at letting every single character use the "they" pronouns for Frisk, that I just never assigned Frisk a gender, even in my own mind. I always imagine Frisk as gender-neutral. :)

This prologue sets the tone excellently, in my opinion, and I am eager to read on!
