I think you did very well writing this romance scene despite you feeling uncomfortable with it. In all honestly, I’m glad Lee is falling for Neo and not Emerald, just because I’ve been a diehard Lee x Neo fan since the story began, hehe.

Oh man, I don’t even know where to start with this review. Even though I am posting this on the 33rd chapter, I’m really going to give my general thoughts on the entire fic, because I just read it in 2 nights out of a sudden feeling of nostalgia.

I guess the first thing I should laud is that you are such a talented author. Truly. You use so much detail, and it really immerses you into the world. Like, during the Summer fight, I knew what was happening, and where everything was, a very difficult feat to pull off when writing a fight scene as chaotic as the ones inside of RWBY.

Secondly, Caerulean is such an entertaining character to read. I love that signature mix of being smug, but with the skills to back it up. I’ve loved seeing him grow over each chapter, being weak at first, but getting more and more acquainted with his newfound lethality.

Lastly, I love your portrayal of the characters we already know, and of the world of Remnant. Really loving Neo’s characterization, as well as Cinder’s (admittedly surprising) humanity when alone with her partners. And that flash of dominant Cinder we saw when Caerulean disobeyed her orders really served to remind us that this is still the Cinder we all know and hate from the show.

If I had to change anything, it would honestly be the overt references to Caerulean’s previous life on Earth, specifically the pop culture references. I understand it’s an important part of his character, but it seems ingenuine and unoriginal. Regardless, you write so well that I was wholly entertained even with them. Just a minor nitpick.

And one thing I’m somewhat unclear on is the whole timing of the Summer fight. I understand the memory sharing, but not why that particular chapter cleared up why the fight has been moved ahead in time. You mentioned that it would clarify, but I had trouble understanding how it did. The whole Escalation arc was written absolutely amazingly, though. Like, definitely the best fight scene in any RWBY fanfic I’ve seen to date.

Sorry if this review seems a little disconnected or lacking in grammar. Writing this at midnight, and I haven’t written a review of any fanfic in a few years. It’s just that I remember reading this fic when I was younger, and wanted to relive some of it. And I’m so glad I did. I hope you get the time to update soon (life is a bitch, huh?).

Btw didn't Summer die when Ruby was a small child like 6 years old or something. I don't see how this timeline is connected. If Neo is 17 then this is like 6 years before canon, but Neo is older than Merc and En right? but they are also 17.
