This is very, very good. I love how you manage to incorporate the stillness of the moment, the inability to know the right things to say or do in the face of trauma, but the patience to address them despite it all. What a lovely piece.

It's really nice to see some parental Riza / Al stuff on this site! I like how you wrote their interactions, especially with Riza's kind-yet-blunt words to Al. I also especially loved the one segment where she'd reflecting on how people tend to not really notice Al, because it's kinda true, and it was just a nice detail to include.

Okay. I've actually read this story twice now, once before I started reviewing and a couple days ago because of a recommendation by a friend. This was well written, tugs on the heartstrings, and just is amazing. The first time I didn't notice "until I'm blue in (the face)-" and that was really clever and pretty telling. And the ending, it's hopeful and just, I love this fic.

This story is so amazing! The way you portrayed the relationship between Al and Riza was spot-on, and the idea of those two having talks like this is definitely something I think happened sometime throughout the years. Fantastic writing!
